TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> June 22, 1995 <br /> Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> Members present: John T. Doherty, Robert F. Cram, Sr. and Steven R. Ball <br /> THE TAPE IS NOT PART OF THE MEETING IT IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br /> TRANSCRIPTION ONLY. <br /> Mr. John T. Doherty, Chairman <br /> r <br /> 1.) Warrants signed. <br /> 2.) Mr. Ball motioned to accept the minutes of June 15, 1995, Mr. Cram seconded, all <br /> agreed. <br /> 3.) Copy of letter from T.C. re: Landfill Closure - Mr. McQuaid relayed, "Our Town <br /> Counsel is still working on extending our landfill closure date from 1997 to 1998." <br /> Acknowledged. <br /> 4.) Feasibility Study of Joint Septage Treatment Plant - Mr. McQuaid relayed, "Our <br /> hauler's will be paying between .5 and .10 cents per gallon." "They are now pay between <br /> .9 and .I I cents per gallon." "I have serious reservations about this." "We closed our <br /> lagoons two years ago this November." "We have not had one complaint from residents <br /> about the additional costs." "I don't think the pumping frequency has diminished because <br /> of this." "If we build this pretreatment plant at Otis we cannot direct our hauler's to bring <br /> their septage to Otis." <br /> Mr. Cram stated, "We can't direct them but we can encourage it by a lower price." <br /> Mr. McQuaid relayed, "The big hauler's bring it to Rhode Island because the price <br /> is only .2 cents per gallon." "We can only encourage them based on price." "Unless we <br /> get the volume at Otis the price is going to be high." <br /> Mr. Doherty commented, "I agree, If we don't get the volume we're not going to <br /> get the price." <br />
