Equally important, it also illustrates why this <br /> makes economic sense to transition from a low cost less capable septic systems into the <br /> slightly more expensive but significantly better wastewater treatment system. This modular <br /> approach clearly provides an incremental reduction in the level of pollutants being <br /> discharged as the Cromaglass WWT facility gradually grows and absorbs septic system <br /> wastewater. Experience shows over and over again in residcntal situations ---the <br /> developer, the community and the properties owners ---are better off if this transition <br /> process over to a tertiary WWT facility takes place over an extended period of time where <br /> the capital investment is incrementally included. <br /> However, the real advantage of this approach to Mashpee as a community is evident <br /> from the data trends shown on Figure 1. This first fact which clearly emerges is this six <br /> (6) CA-120 SBR modular WWT facility will be depositing BOD,TSS and Nt levels that <br /> are equivalent to only 55 bedrooms of the current septic system---less than 213 of today's <br /> flows. Secondly, the incremental build-up of the modular plant insures the community of <br /> Mashpee and its neighboring towns that steps are actively being taken in a responsible <br /> manner to reduce the overall nitrogen loading into Cape Cod's sole aquifer from this point <br /> in time forward. <br /> And finally, Massachusetts regulatory acceptance of Cromaglass SBR's by DEP <br /> have gradually emerged over the past 9 months. Since ASI CAy involvement last fall as a <br /> potential bidder on the Mashpee High School project,ASI filed and has recently received <br /> notification that ASI will be granted a five(5)renewal general use permit for the <br /> Cromaglass SBR's under Title 5 alternatives,effective September, 1995.
