TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> i <br /> BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> June 18, 1998 <br /> Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> Members present: Robert F. Cram, Sr., Steven R. Ball and John T. Doherty <br /> THE TAPE IS NOT PART OF THE MEETING IT IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br /> TRANSCRIPTION ONLY. <br /> Mr. Robert F_ Cram, Chairman <br /> 1.) Warrants signed. <br /> 2.) The minutes of June 11, 1998 were not prepared in time for this week's meeting. <br /> Unscheduled Appointment: <br /> Mr. Ray Mashino, President of the Popponesset Beach Association, was in <br /> attendance. <br /> Mr. Mashino presented photographs to the Board and stated, "We have a problem <br /> at Popponesset Beach with seaweed." "We filed a "Notice of Intent" with the <br /> Conservation Commission to use mechanical equipment." "We need to take the seaweed <br /> somewhere to dispose of it." "Last year the Board permitted us to dispose of the seaweed <br /> at the landfill." "Seaweed decomposes very quickly and is biodegradable." "We are <br /> seeking permission from the Board of Health to dispose of the seaweed again this year at <br /> the landfill." <br /> Mr. McQuaid stated, `Bear in mind after July I" we won't be landfiliing_" "We <br /> will compost if this is compatible with our leaf and grass clipping composting process." <br /> "In the past we landfilled the stuff, we didn't mix it in with our compost process." <br /> Mr. Doherty questioned Mr. Maschino, "Do you have an estimate as to how much <br /> seaweed you would be bringing in?" <br /> Mr. Maschino responded, "Approximately 20 yards." <br />
