16 <br /> <br />Board of Selectmen <br />Minutes <br />January 28, 2013 <br /> <br />LIAISION REPORTS: <br /> <br />Schools: Selectman Sherman recently attended a seminar at the Mashpee High <br />School entitled Credit for Life. The informational event was sponsored by the <br />Cape Cod Five Bank. The program provided the students with life experiences on <br />matters which included costs and savings relative to gaining credit on associated <br />purchases such as insurance, personal vehicles and home ownership. In other <br />matters it was noted the membership regarding the School Superintendent Search <br />Committee has been finalized. The dates to interview final candidates will soon <br />be announced. <br /> <br />Special Events: A ceremony is planned at the Veterans Park on Saturday, April <br />13, 2013 to unveil the new memorial stones for Mashpee’s Fallen Heroes. <br /> <br />Mashpee Community Park: Preliminary plans for the Mashpee Community Park <br />were presented at the Memorial Park Committee meeting. <br /> <br />EOC: Selectman Cahalane, liaison to the Environmental Oversight Committee <br />commented on Rick York’s shellfish project. It was agreed the Selectmen would <br />schedule the presentation as a future agenda topic of discussion. <br /> <br />Affordable Housing Committee: A grant has been submitted to the MA Housing <br />Partnership to fund a feasibility study at 209 Old Barnstable Road. As a <br />contingency, a request for funding has been submitted to the Community <br />Preservation Committee. The CPC voted to have the Affordable Housing Trust <br />serve as the applicant, and Affordable Housing Committee as the co-applicant <br />since the Affordable Housing Committee does not have the authorization to <br />expend funds. The Office of the Board of Selectmen/Town Manager would <br />monitor the expenditure of all funding, the RFP and related project material. <br /> <br />Affordable Housing Trust: It was agreed the Affordable Housing Trust would <br />schedule a meeting. Bob Lawton, an AHT member representing the Town of <br />Yarmouth would be invited to attend the meeting to give insight on the workings <br />of the AHT in the Town of Yarmouth. <br /> <br />CCWPC: With regards to the Cape Cod Water Protection Collaborative, it was <br />noted the Cape Cod Commission recently received grant funding to assist the <br />fifteen Cape towns to further the efforts on water protection. <br /> <br />MMA Trade Show & Conference: It was noted the MA Municipal Association <br />trade show was very informative. At the conference, a presentation on recycling <br />was also educative. <br /> <br />
