MASHPEE FINANCE COMMITTEE MINU'T'ES <br /> APRIL 1 , 1996 <br /> MEETING COMMENC8D AT 7 :OOPM <br /> Finance Committee members present : Marcia King, Chairman; Alec <br /> Watt; Mike umin; Juan Bac igalupl; Sid Golub and Dan Goggin. Tony <br /> Gallo was unable to attend. The meeting was held at the Caro. <br /> Jacobson Sen.ior Center. <br /> Please note for the record that the taping of this meeting is for <br /> the, transcription of the Minutes only, Once the Minutes are <br /> approved, the tapes will be reused, <br /> Minutes <br /> Juan Bacigalupi Motioned to approve the Minutes of March 18th as <br /> mitten. Dan Goggin seconded the Motion and members approved the <br /> Minutes as written by a unanimous Grote of -0 . <br /> Report to the Taxpayers <br /> Ms , King drafted the Finance Committee' s Report to the Taxpayers, <br /> and asked that each member review and inform her of any changes or <br /> corrections needed. <br /> Mg . Ding also informed the Finance Committee that she has begun to <br /> update the Long Range Plan, and it looks as though here may be a <br /> deficit of $24, 000 . Ms . King said the School can expect a decrease <br /> in State reimbursement due to the Coombs School bond payment . <br /> After review of the Board of Selectmen' s recommendations, they are <br /> roughly $140, 000 to $160, 000 above the Finance Committees <br /> recommendations . If the Selectmen' s numbers are approved then the <br /> deficit is almost $200, 000 . <br /> Chamber of Comaerce <br /> Pat Pry, Manager and Melinda Gallant were present on behalf of the <br /> Chamber of Commerce.. The two presented the 1995 visitor' s Guide <br /> booklet and a letter explaining what the Chamber of Commerce <br /> promotes . Ms . Pry explained that the Chamber would like to receive <br /> a percentage of the room tax, The Chamber feels that they are <br /> acting as a Town directory, as well as providing information for <br /> visitors . Mike Kumin Motioned to reconsider thein previous vete to <br /> rElcommend $2, 000 for the Chamber of Commence.. Dan Coggin seconded <br /> the lot ion. ��d Golub stepped down f ror the v of e. Mac. Watt t <br /> suggested that the Town is already In deficit and is just not <br /> warranted this year. He mentioned that the money will have to be <br /> taken from somewhere else, Mr. Ba igalupi agreed that this may not <br /> be the year. Mr. Coggin disagreed. He believed $4, 000 to be a <br /> reasonable ammo nt # The Chairman asked the Committee to vote to <br /> reconsider their prior vote and the Grote was 3 to 2, Mr. Golub <br /> a staining. Mr. Kumin Motioned to approve $4, 0 0 0 for the Chamber. i <br />
