4 <br /> ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> i_ MINUTES OF JANUARY 10, 1995 <br /> Members Present: Sid Stern, Paul Reynolds , Steve Innis, <br /> Nelson Andrews (alternate) . <br /> Also present: Wayne Duchemin, E.D. Coordinator <br /> Dan Waters (EDC Applicant) <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7: 10 p.m. <br /> The Minutes of December 20 , 1994 were accepted with the following <br /> corrections: Curland should be Kurland; strike the last sentence <br /> in paragraph 1, p. l , re: Wayne ' s accomplishments. <br /> SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Paul will report on the questionnaire later in the meeting. <br /> Steve reported the Guidebooks have been delivered to real estate <br /> brokers . Re: Internet, CCS has three contracts on Cape to be <br /> put on line, and Steve suggested inviting CCS to an EDC meeting. <br /> Maybe they would connect our Committee' s Computer as an <br /> introduction at a discount. Having access to Internet would <br /> be a good market feature to Mashpee with its surrounding towns. <br /> Sid gave Wayne a copy of the December 29 , 1994 "Cape Cod <br /> Commission Reporter" noting he would like to yet an article <br /> in it re: CCS, similar to that on "P-Town. " Steve will invite <br /> CCS. Nelson stated he will forward a report to Wayne re: Cape <br /> Cod Golf Courses. <br /> At 7: 30 p.m. Tom Fudala, Town Planner, reviewed with EDC the <br /> Mashpee Comprehensive Plan - Economic Development Element Goals <br /> & Objectives. Mr. Fudala stated that' Mashpee will benefit from <br /> this regional plan, and grants have been received to help in <br /> this effort. He is looking for comments from EDC and approval <br /> of its goals and policies for economic development. They will <br /> be brought to the Planning Board, and a hearing is scheduled <br /> next month. Mr. Fudala offered anyone who wants to read the <br /> Regional Policy Plan (which he used as a resource) can do so <br /> upon request. The target date for completion is 1997 . The <br /> goals, objectives , and policies for economic development were <br /> reviewed one by one, and input from Wayne and EDC members were <br /> given to Mr. Fudala. At the end of this review, Mr. Fudala <br /> asked EDC to vote in favor of the changes made and confirm that <br /> they reflect EDC sentiment. A motion was made to endorse the <br /> changes made and to confirm they reflect EDC sentiment. Motion <br /> carried. Sid asked Mr. Fudala to look into trading properties <br /> which would involve zoning "swaps. " Mr. Fudala distributed <br /> an article which stated that the two most important factors <br /> for relocation decisions are ( 1 ) skilled labor farce and ( 2 ) <br /> pro business climate. <br /> -1 -- <br />
