ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MINUTES
MAY 23, 1995
Members Present: Sid Stern, Sharon Koblinsky, Paul Reynolds,
Steve Innis and Ted Lewis were absent.
(Ted will return in July after his
recuperation) .
Also present: Wayne Duchemin, E.D. Coordinator
The meeting was called to order at 7: 17 p.m.
The Minutes of May 23 , 1995 were accepted with the
correction/addition on p. 2 "pro bono" will replace "in kind"
and vice versa, and p. 3 last paragraph, add new appointment
recommendations.
Sid referred to the two pieces of correspondence everyone
received in the mail regarding EDC members intentions for
reappointments and his resignation.
It was agreed that the next meeting will be held on Thursday,
June 29th.
Paul reported that he contacted Bill at CCS World regarding
the Internet connection, and Bill stated he would install the j
software soon. Since nothing was done, Paul made a follow-up
call . Sid also called and talked to Joe who said he would come
that day; no action was done on this. Someone suggested paying
CCS $30 for the hook-up. Paul felt we should wait until it
is convenient for Joe to do the hook-up since we will be dealing
with him in the future putting pages on World-Wide Webb Pages.
Sid will follow up with another call , and he will mention an
interest in World-Wide Webb, but we first need to get connected.
Paul stated that the Labor Force Survey is at the printer and
will be back by Friday. 400 copies of the survey and letter
will be folded by them, but EDC will have to stuff the envelopes .
It was agreed that EDC members would meet Monday morning at
Town Hall to do the stuffing. Steve Innis will be informed
about this.
LPP and Mt. Auburn EDC Consultant Report update began with Sharon
asking what is EDC' s relationship to all this . Paul expressed
concern regarding Mt. Auburn' s focus since he thought they were
going to be looking at the work force as it relates to attracting
business to Mashpee. At their seminar meeting that was held
and attended by EDC members, they noted they are going to
concentrate on the current work force; what industries to attract
was 2nd priority. Sid thought they were short-term oriented
in their approach to finding low-paying jobs for the unemployed
-1 -
