CONSERVATION BOARD MEETING
April 23, 1980
Present:
Pauline F. DeLory, Chairperson
Dorothy G. Studley, Vice Chairperson
Charles Buckingham
Wayne Tavares
Richard Cohen
Ken Pecci
The meeting was called to order promptly at 7:30 p.m.
Lot 276, Traffrail . Way
Bruce Fulton: When they dug, it did not perk because it is peat. They put water in it
and it just stayed there. The water table is down at 8 feet. According to Mrs. Anderson,
were to try you x
if Y to make it a buildable lot, you would have to dig out all this soil
(shows what he is referring to on the plan) and replace it with sand and a 25 foot diameter
hole around the septic and also another 25 foot diameter hole as a leaching pit. I, per-
sonally, don't care about it one way or the others because I have a purchase and sales
agreement on it contingent on getting a building permit. I don't care at all whether the
thing passes or not. I just want to make sure that when I tell the fellow that owns it
that he doesn't have a buildable lot that I know what I am talking about.
Ken: How long ago did the guy buy the lot?
-Bruce: I think he has owned it for a few years.
Ken: Has he ever perked.it before?
Bruce: I don't know if he has ever perked it before or not.
Ken: Are there houses beside him?
Bruce: No. This is Taft Trail Way which is over on Popponesset Island and there is one
house on the upland side of Taft Trail Way. But there has never been any lots built upon.
I want to get the Conservation Commission opinion on the thing if in the future this could
be done. If they would allow you to take 8 feet of peat and muck out of there and replace
It with sand.
Dorothy: What would happen when you go to put in the foundation?
Bruce: It would have to ,go on pilings.
Dick: How far is it?
Bruce: About 155 feet on this lot line (shows on plan) and 160 feet along that one so you
would have no problem in getting your septic a good 100, 110, or 120 feet away from the
well.
Pauline: Are there any houses on the abutting lots?
Bruce: No.
