Affordable Housing Committee <br />Minutes of Meeting Held Tuesday, August 7, 2001 <br />Mashpee Town Hall — Meeting Room 1 <br />Present: J. Cahalane, L. Botsford, L. Patrick, M. LeClair, A. Weinstein, J. Regan, Z. Elizenberry, <br />L. Williams, and Tom Fudala (Planning). <br />Absent: M. Meijering, G. Marshall, <br />Public Audience: Bea Perkins, League of Women Voters <br />A quorum being present, Leila Botsford, Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 7:23 p.m. <br />Leila distributed a copy of Executive Order No. 418, which regulation she had brought to the <br />attention of the Committee at the last meeting on July 10, <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Louise Patrick motioned to accept the minutes of the July 10, 2001, meeting as amended; this <br />was seconded by Mary LeClair; and unanimously approved. <br />REQUESTS TO BE SUBMITTED TO SELECTMEN AND TOWN MEETING <br />Following in-depth discussion regarding Affordable Housing requests to be presented to the <br />Selectmen and then ultimately to the May -2002 Town Meeting, it was the consensus of the <br />Committee that an initial request should be presented to the Selectmen and should include: <br />(1) Request approval and endorsement of the Affordable Housing Committee's mission <br />statement: <br />"It is the mission of the Affordable Housing Committee to enhance the Town of <br />Mashpee, Massachusetts and the quality of life of its residents by promoting diversity <br />of housing inventory and undertaking the acquisition, rehabilitation, and development <br />of affordable housing." <br />(2) Request approval for the Committee to collaborate with the housing authority to form a non- <br />profit (Mashpee Affordable Housing Trust) entity. <br />(3) Provide an update on what the Committee has been doing. <br />(4) Ask the Selectmen to pass a resolution that affordable housing is a priority. <br />
