TOWN OF MASHPEE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMMITTEE MINUTES <br /> MARCH 12, 2009 <br /> Members present: Bob Wooldridge,Beverly Wooldridge, William Dundon, Charles Maintanis, <br /> Trish Parolski, Patricia Lugo, Marilyn Farren, Gus Frederick. <br /> Also present: Theresa Cook, Selectman Liaison. <br /> Absent: Mert Sapers. <br /> Chairman Bob Wooldridge called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. <br /> The Minutes of 12-11-08 were moved, seconded, and approved unanimously. <br /> Planning and Construction Committee: Trish Parolski reported that she had nothing new to <br /> report. The idea to renovate the nurses room at the high school so that 7'�' and 8t'graders would <br /> have their own nurse has been tabled due to the budget. <br /> South Cape Village: Parking issues continue to be a concern of the ADA members. Bob and <br /> Charlie met with the engineer re: changed parking spaces and crosswalks. There is some <br /> controversy with the Planning Board and the Talaney owners regarding the Joy Street <br /> conversion. They are getting hung up on the raised brick area which helps slow people down. <br /> There may be a public hearing in the near future. Updates will be given as this project <br /> progresses through the regulatory hearings. Wicked Pizza has opened for business, and the <br /> parking seems inadequate. <br /> May Town Meeting: There are no articles pertaining to the ADA. The Audio Ledger has <br /> received additional funding to stay in business. Terrie and Wayne Taylor will read the warrant <br /> and make tapes available. Kathleen will take care of CART. There will also be a large print <br /> warrant available. <br /> Future ADA Meetings: Due to budgetary constraints, the ADA members agreed to meet every <br /> other month beginning immediately. The remaining meetings in 2009 will take place in May, <br /> July, September,November. We will need to check to see if there are any regulations <br /> concerning the regularity of the meeting schedule. The previously posted meetings will be <br /> cancelled. <br /> Beach Access Project: Gus Frederick was present to discuss and give his input. A diagram was <br /> distributed showing the walkway for a wheelchair from the parking lot to near the high water line <br /> and an adjacent deck. This boardwalk would be removeable at the end of the season. The price <br /> quote for trex is $3,018.57 and in teak $3,546.99. Half inch spacing will not negatively impact <br /> the wheelchair. The Con Com agent is favorable of this project. There will be a public comment <br /> session. The Cape and Island License Plate program has grant money available. Also, Charlie <br /> will talk to Cape Cod Five Bank to see if they would like to contribute. Terric will talk to the <br /> Mashpee Chamber of Commerce and Kiwannis, and Mert Sapers can speak to the Mashpee <br /> Men's Club of which he is a member.
