Mashpee Affordable Horsing Committee <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> June 1,2010 at 7 pm <br /> Selectmen's Meeting Room, Mashpee Town lull <br /> Present: Alan Trebat, Kalliope Eglof ,, Amy Snider, Bud Abbott <br /> Also Present: Selectman Michael Richardson, Asst. Town Planner Bill Newton <br /> Call to order <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chairman Alan Trebat at 10 prn. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> motion was made by fir. Abbott to approve the minutes from the May 4, 2010 meeting, Ms. <br /> Snider seconded the motion. All voted unanimously. <br /> Horne Consortium Advisory Council-Lorri Finton <br /> .Lorri Finton introduced hersel.f to the Committee as a volunteer representing Mashpee at the Home <br /> Consortium Advisory Council. The Consortium meets monthly at 8:30 pin on the third Thursday of <br /> each month at the Cape Cod Commission. Ms. Finton indicated that the Consortium includes <br /> representatives from each of the 15 town on Cape as well as two At-Large members. <br /> The Horne Consortium Advisory Council seeps to preserve and create affordable housing through the <br /> provision of grant money from vaous sources, such as HM. Affordable housing developers or <br /> groups requiring additional funds may request fund in amounts such as $125,000 to assist them with <br /> their project and to show local support for the project. Recent projects that have been considered for <br /> funds include Cromwell Court in Hyannis to rehab the structures, Province Landing to develop 40 <br /> units, with 25 slated for residents with less than 0%of the median income and a Barnstable arrnouth <br /> home ownership program. Projects are scored by a variety of criteria, such as the number of affordable <br /> units or accessibility, to determine which projects receive the funds. lis. Egloff questioned whether or <br /> not the criteria could be made available for use by the Affordable Housing Committee for <br /> consideration of future projects In Mashpee. FIs. Finton will forward the information to the <br /> Committee. The Consortium has also developed policies for C pewide affordable units such a <br /> creating a standardized regulatory agreement that vAll maintain developments or homes as affordable <br /> in perpetuity. The Consortium has developed an all Cape Fair Housing Plan and grants funds to the <br /> Down Payment and Closing Costs Program that the Housing Assistance Corporation provides to first <br /> time homebuyers. <br /> Mr. Abbott questioned whether the Consortium had worked with motels wishing to convert some units <br /> to affordable le rentals for greater than 30 days but Ms. Finton was unaware of a partial conversion. Ms. <br /> Egloff and Ms. Snider described the Seagull Motel in Provincetown that was converted into one <br /> bedroom green affordable housing units. A discussion ensued regarding a local motel that would be <br /> heard at the Zoning Board of Appeals. Mr. Trebat questioned whether Ms. Vinton was aware of any <br /> Mashpee projects. .IVIS. Finton responded that Habitat for Humanity had requested funds for their <br /> project in Mashpee. Mr. Trebat encouraged shared communication between the Committee and Ms. <br /> Finton in order to offer local support for projects. Mr. Trebat also questioned the total amount of funds <br /> warded annually, to which Ms. Finton confirmed that it was over $500,000, but the specific figure <br />
