MASHPEE BOARD OF ASSESSORS MINUTES OF JANUARY 25, 1994 � <br /> PRESENT: LESLIE M. GREIG, CHAIRMAN � <br /> KENNETH A. PORTER, VICE CHAIRMAN <br /> ROBERT R. DELORY, CLERK <br /> DAVID A. BAILEY, DIRECTOR OF ASSESSING <br /> The regular meeting was called to order by Chairman Greig at <br /> p.m. <br /> MINUTES OF THE MEETINGS <br /> There were no minutes of meetings presented for review, <br /> discussion, and Board action. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> Stenberg Property <br /> Chairman Greig informed Board Members that The Board is in <br /> receipt of a fax letter submitted by David Bailey; the letter, <br /> dated January 24 , 1994 , is from the DivI ion of Local Services o <br /> D.G.P. , signed by May'. Leslie Kerwin, and is relative to the <br /> property of Mr. Stenberg, Mr. Greig pointed out that more <br /> iAdsop <br /> nformation is forthcoming , probably tomorrow. When this data is <br /> reviewed , The Board will know hew to act on the matter. He asked <br /> for comments from Board Members . <br /> Vice Chairman Porter stated that he is satisfied to date <br /> with all information presented and discussed; he agrees that The <br /> Board will have to meet with other key people, especially Ms . <br /> Jean McNight, Attorney for the Town of Mashpee. <br /> Upon question from Chairman Greig , David Bailey stated that <br /> M . Whritenour has not yet seen the fax letter. He explained <br /> that the D.O.R. has authorized Assessing to do precisely what The <br /> Department has requested D.O.R. to authorize, assuming The Board <br /> of Selectmen agrees with Assessing ' s Calan of action, The primary <br /> concern of the D.O.R. is to rake sure Assessing does not abate <br /> the taxes , and them allow Mr. Stenberg to keep the land; or that <br /> Assessing does not abate the taxes against the will of The Board <br /> of Selectmen. Lengthy discussion followed. <br /> Upon question from Chairman Greig , David Bailey informed <br /> that The Board of Selectmen slid Vote on this issue; last year The <br /> Selectmen considered that the Town of Mashpee could own a $1 <br /> Million piece of property, but pay only $90 Thousand for it; they <br /> felt the Stenber-g Property was a good Ileal. and Voted to take the <br /> land. <br />
