GRE I , CHAIRMAN <br /> KENNETH A. PORTERr VICE CHAIRMAN <br /> DAVID A. BAILEY, DIRECTOR OF ASSESSING <br /> ABSENT: MARCIA R. KING, CLERK <br /> The regular meeting was held in the Assessing Department ' s <br /> temporary office, a trailer located at the rear of Mashpee Town <br /> Hall , Mashpee, Massachusetts. This site is being used while Town <br /> Hall is being renovated and Assessing ' s new office location is <br /> being prepared. <br /> The regular meeting was called to order by Chairman Greig at <br /> : 10 p.m. informed that Marcia sting called hire at 4 : 15 p.m. <br /> this afternoon to notify that she will not be present at this <br /> evening ' s meeting because she is working late. <br /> MINUTES OF THE MEETINGS : <br /> minutes of The Meeting of October 22, 1996 <br /> Vice Chairman Rorer rade motion The Board accept The <br /> Minutes of The Meeting of October 22 , 1996 , as printed; Leslie <br /> Greig made second the motion; motion passed- majority decision. <br /> The Minutes were accepted by The Board. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> New Tax Rate <br /> David Bailey informed that it appears the new Tax Rate <br /> will be $14 . 25 ; the new District Rate will. be $ . 67 . The new Tax <br /> Rate amounts to only about increase; a news editorial I <br /> planned. Board Members expressed approval . Discussion followed <br /> concerning the small Tax Rate increases over the last five years. <br /> Chairman Greig questioned David Bailey about his <br /> previous statement that expenditures have gone up about 2 <br /> between 1996 and 1997. Mr. Bailey Verified and explained that <br /> the new Tax Rate increase remained small because of a <br /> combination of things : the $1 . 5 Million that we put into tax <br /> relief ; the increased number of properties paying taxes , and the <br /> increase in Value of some of the properties , Lengthy discussion <br /> followed. <br />
