MAS P E BOARD OF ASSESSORS <br /> February 1 , 1999 <br /> PRESENT: Marga ling, Chairperson <br /> Leslie M. Greig, Clerk <br /> David A. Bailey, Director of Assessing <br /> The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m. <br /> Minutes of the January 22, 1999 Board of Assessors meeting were reviewed. It was motioned <br /> (Greig), seconded(Ring) and carried to approve the minutes. <br /> The Minutes from the February , 1999 Board ofAssessors meeting were distributed, It was <br /> agreed to wait until the entire Board is present to take action on abatements requests by the <br /> eLory's and Searnist Condominiums. <br /> Nis. King presented Personal Property Abatement Requests L , U and L (titled"A", see copy <br /> attached to original minutes). It was motioned(Greig), seconded(King) and carried to deny the <br /> Abatement Requests due to late filing. <br /> Nis. King presented Personal Property Abatement Requests Nos. 38, 36, 34, 30 (titled"B", see <br /> copy attached to original minutes). It was motioned (Greig), seconded(King)and carried to <br /> approve the Abatement Requests. <br /> Mr. Ding presented Real Estate Abatement Applications totaling$2,622.91 (titled"C", see copy ' <br /> attached to original minutes), It was motioned(Greig), seconded(King)and carried to approve <br /> the Real Estate Abatement Requests. <br /> Nis. King presented Deal Estate Abatement Applications, Nos. 11 through 92 (titled"U", see <br /> copy attached to original minutes). It was motioned(Greig), seconded(Ring)and carried to deny <br /> the Real Estate Abatements. <br /> 2:10 p.m.---Mrs. Henning <br /> Mrs. Henning joined the meeting at :10 p.m, <br /> Mr. Bailey explained that there has been on ongoing error on the property assessment for Mrs. <br /> Henning's property. At one time the property was split into two lots, but was later combined into <br /> one lot. while being assessed for the combined lot, Mrs. Henning continued to be assessed for <br /> one of the old lots (which is a non-buildable parcel). <br /> Ms. Ding noted that the Board has abated the tax on that lot for this year, but that further <br /> abatements must be approved by the DOR. They will only give abatements for up to three prior F <br /> years. Mr. Bailey pointed out that the over-assessed parcel's value was approximately$11,300 <br /> this year, and the abatement would,therefore,be in the range of$150. Prior years would be in <br /> the same range. <br /> Mrs. Henning noted that the actual site(buildable property)was about 6,000 square feet, and she <br /> queried as to whether she was being taxed on the non-buildable parcel at the same rate as the rest <br />
