■ <br /> - TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> BOARD OF ASSESSORS <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Wednesday,, October 17,, 2007 <br /> Board Members Present: - Also Present: <br /> Paul Andrews, Chairman Jason Streebel, Director of Assessing <br /> Sheldon Holzer, Vice Chairman <br /> Gregg Fraser, Cleric <br /> CALL To ORDER <br /> Chairman Paul Andrews called the meeting to order at 6:40 PM, <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> None <br /> REVIEW of MINUTES <br /> i A motion was ,Wade, seconded and passed to approve ars presented the minutes of the <br /> meeting held on Thursday, August 23, 2007. <br /> BOARD of ASSESSORS REPORTS <br /> None <br /> DIRECTOR of ASSESSING REPORT <br /> Jason Streebel gave an uprate on the Assessing Office Activity. <br /> 1. Revaluation. The office is in the process of the tri-annual revaluation. ToddY was the <br /> first day of the second phase of the audit. Grace Sandell, Dept. of Revenue <br /> representative for the district, was in.the office for the day, as was Paul Kapinos, <br /> Assessing office consultant. All the towns are-being told by the DOR that it will be sic to <br /> eight weeks to complete the revaluation process, and are being advised to issue <br /> preliminary bills in the.event they are not certified on time. ,Jason Streebel stated that <br /> Paul Kapinos has been through ,multiple revaluations, mine so far this year, and as a <br /> result has been able to present.and revalue the town exactly the way the DOFF i <br /> requiring. There are 25 rand pricing.indexes-around Mashpee and 8 neighborhood <br /> groupings. Whose two factors are what determine the land values. Grace Sandell -will <br /> return next Tuesday to resume the second phase of the Mashpee audit. <br /> Jason Streebel stated that ll ashpee will'riot likely be taker! out of order for audit <br /> approval, and therefore Will need to be prepared for the possibility of sendingrout <br /> preliminary tax bills in January '0 . <br /> ,5 <br /> Jason reported that property sales indicate that waterfront property values are still doing <br /> well. Middle-prices property values are dropping a bit. The tax rate will be going up, but <br /> until the preliminary certification is received there is no way to calculate what the new to <br /> rate will be. The current tax rate for Mashpee i $5.84 per thousand. <br />
