Braman
Pauline: Reads Notice of Intent -- to construct a timber pier, ramp and float
to grade terrace area and to construct steps to the pier at Lot 1194 oponesset
lsla.rd Road, Mashpee, within loo feet of Poponesset Bay in accordance with plans
on file.
Mr. Braman: (Representing fir. onvisor•) As l think you know, fir. Convisor's lot
Is located on Poponesset Island. There is an existing house there which he pur-
chased some time ago. There are the remains of a portion of an existing dock
(shown on the plan as an existing wood pier). It was built before the current
Wetland's Act. It became effective possibly before any Wetland's Act. Regard- '
loss of when it was built, it does exist. 'khat we are proposing to do is utilize
part of that pier and at the Poponesset Bay end of the pier, we would like to con-
.struct a set of stairs to come down onto what would be a new pier at a lower ele-
vation. The existing pier is 9.3 feet above mean low water, We would bring the
new pier down t elevation . The proposed pier is 20 feet long. The eonstruc-
tion is zoned by this typical bench section on the plan of 4 feet wide from center
to center of the piles. At the end of the pier is a proposed ramp leading down to
a float, The float is 16 x 20-which would be secured to two pilings (shown on the
plan as solid circles). The float would be chained to those. The float and ramp
would be taken out in the winter time and brought up onto the beach, In addition,
Mr. Convisor intends to build an addition to the house. The addition is shorn on
the plan but it Is not dimensioned,, As you can see, it is a fairy substantial
ad ition. The portion heading westerly is a garage underneath, then family room
and addi do .al living room ups to lrs. From that upstairs living room which would
be facing the Bay, there will be a deck in the front and then a set ofstains
leading do•rn to the terraced area and then the stairs (railroad ties with brick
steps) coning down to join in to the end of the existing pier the westerly end),
There is some planting proposed but is not shown on the plan, we propose that
some plantings be placed along the banking gust to help to protect it, The bank
is in pretty stable condition at the moment. There is some wild growth on i
which would be supplemented b t_i r plantings, The plan is based on mean-low
water and the geodetic surreys in the area and established beach marks. The
reason the pier is so long is so we could get out to a depth to moor small. boatso
At low tide, there would be about a. foot and a half of water at the face of the
float, The tide- range In P poness t Bair is given in the geodetic propagations as
