MASHPEE CONSERVATION COMMISSION <br /> MEETING OF APRIL 16, 1987 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: V. Louise Behrman , El l iof Rosenberg , Gertrude Ferriday, <br /> Carol .Jacobson, Heather Urquhart. ,Joseph Burns, assoc- <br /> iate member was also present. <br /> ABSENT.: Mary Marsters , March du Pont. <br /> Attending the meeting also were John Va rkonda , William Janes and Patrick Coffey. <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> 3 -- Angelo P. Toy i as Braman Engineering) To construct a 4 ' x 7.21 timber <br /> pier, ' wide stairway and ' wide path at lot 44 Wheelhouse Lane-. Douglas <br /> Cameron presenting. The r i'g i na l filing i th the Board of Appeals had to be <br /> refiled. Revised plans dated 1/20/87 were subr i t ted with a revised notice' of <br /> i n tent s tat i ng a F ' p i er, 1 gangway and one ' x 1 ' f]oat. The <br /> pier lis located at the m i dd 1 e of the lot and the float will be in an area of <br /> very sparse eel g'rs . Board of Appeals approval has been received, <br /> It was noted this was advertised with incorrect dimensions and i l lx require <br /> readvertis i ng at the Commission ' s expense. <br /> HEARING 0 NT I NUED UNTIL MAY 7 1987a tp.m. <br /> 4 - Ma shpee Sho res Rea l ty Trus t. Con t i nued f rom Ma rch 19, 1987. Jack <br /> Sullivan advised he met with abutters and residents and they now would l i e <br /> to go along with the Commission ' s suggestions. They propose to put a path <br /> and stairs in , leave the trees other than some two inch and under which are <br /> in the water and will be removed. The Notice of I'n teat will be modified b <br /> setter, <br /> Mrs . Jacobson requested assurance nothing will be done on the beach area. <br /> The hill and beach to be left as it is and they intend gust to build stairs <br /> and put in a path. <br /> Mr. Burns questioned what would be at the bottom of the stairs and Mr. Sullivan <br /> stated natural ground. No sand is to be out in there between the end of the <br /> staircase t the water. <br /> i <br /> John asked if people will be swimming there and expressed concern with wha t <br /> is going down into the water. <br /> i <br /> Mr. Sullivan stated the Notice of Intent i s to put a pets i n from the top of <br /> the hill to the bottom of the natural areal build the stairs and not touch the <br /> area around the water. Wood chips or anything natural wi l l be put on the path <br /> and there will be no cutting . <br /> i <br /> COMMENTS: John Dixon., Division of Fisheries Wildlife, advised he was at the <br /> site today and there is erosion on the beach side of the Herring Run. It i <br /> eroding because of the high water. Any removal of existing vegetation in the <br /> area should be looked at very carefully because that is the critical area of <br /> the lake and if it ever ver-breaches the darn, mute 130 would be washed out <br /> as well as the fish life affected and the new home going up ' i n the pond' ,, <br />
