Me <br /> I PRESENT : HELENE DEFOE , LIBRARY DIRECTOR <br /> DAVID BURTON , CHAIRMAN <br /> ARL D 'ETE <br /> TER1 HYDE <br /> MIM1 MARSH <br /> DIANNA SMITH <br /> ABSENT : GARY EYNATIAN <br /> ALSO <br /> PRESENT : JIM WALKER <br /> PRESIDENT OF FRIENDS <br /> BUILDII <br /> COMMITTEE : DAVID BURTON <br /> ERNIE COLE <br /> ED DEFE <br /> GRACE TAL AGE <br /> Ii Meeting called to order . <br /> This was a joint meeting of the Board of Library Trustees and <br /> a quorum of the building committee . <br /> David explained that approximately fifteen years ago , Mashpee <br /> Commons , Fields Point deeded this parcel on which our library <br /> building stands for the use of the public library. One of the <br /> conditions which was part of the deed was a design review, <br /> that is to say , when the library building was placed , or an - <br /> expansion , <br /> n - <br /> e pan ion , or an improvement they would have the legal- right <br /> to review the pians , in keeping with their master plan for <br /> Mashpee Commons . <br /> Initially ,, Mashpee Commons representatives saw the plan for <br /> library expansion and stated that they haven ' t been up to <br /> speed on this , and they were not sure they could give approval . <br /> One of the representatives from Mashpee Commons is on the <br /> building committee , and , regrettably, there were some communi- <br /> cation breaks . <br /> David explained that Town Meeting wa-s about three and a half <br /> short weeks away . There is an Article #19 ; there is no dollar <br /> figure. They were asking the Town to vote to ,-, A. Accept <br /> money from the State a State Grant) % Helene and a few other <br /> people have worked very hard putting in a very comprehensive <br /> grant application at the State levels <br /> This next month is very important for a number of reasons <br /> 1 . Town meeting . 2 . We have been working for the Last three <br /> years to build a consensus within the Town, and a public aware- <br /> ness campaign letting it be known that the present Mashpee <br /> Library -as inadequate for the growing Town of Mashpee. <br /> f <br />
