BOARD of LIBRARY TRUSTEES
_ REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
TUESDAY,JUNE 179 2003
MASUPEE LIBRARY MEETING ROOM
Present; Ann MacDonald-Dailey, Carlo I ' ste,Alice l auppius,David Burton,Dianna Smith,
Feather Lakato , and Helene DeFoe,Librry Director.
Absent: N1,11ii Marsh.
David Burton, c ai rrnan, called the meeting to order at 630 0 p.m.
Approval of Minutes
Dianna Smith motioned to accept the minutes of the May 13, 2003 meeting as presented; Carlo
"Este seconded the motion; and it was unanimously passed.
Reports
Helene DeFoe,, Library Director, began by passing around the June 12 memorandum that went t
all Departments advising of the Selectmen Liaison assigmaents for this year. In particular, she
noted that Wayne Taylor is the Liaison for the Library.
Helene then distributed copy of her May monthly report, as well as printed CLAMS statistical
report. Helene went through her May report paragraph by paragraph and explained background
information in detail to the 'trustees. Helene also distributed Janet Burke"s monthly report for
May. Further, in going through Janet"s report with the Trustees,Helene showed a sample sticker
that Janet designed to male access easier on the younger-level books.
Copies of Ielene's and Janet's reports are attached to the printed set of minutes.
Discussion
David introduced JingWalker...past President-Friends of the Library...and currently Book Sale
Director-Friends of the Library. Jiro said he was here to ask for some help regarding Book Sale
and this meeting room. Specifically, he would like a I OX20 shed-put outside and asked Trustees
what is the best way to go about accomplishing this. Jim stated he would like the 'trustees to act
on this. Some of his comments/questions:
First get 1 ashpee Commons" approval to put a shed on the property.
Ask Town to put in a cement pad to set shed on the pad.
Probably need a variance.
Would like electric so shed could be lit inside and outside at night.
i Could we find any donor to underwrite any of this?
Buy a ready-made shed, or attempt to build?
Move every book from this room to shed and restore this room to a meeting room.
Use shed only for storage. r'ng books in for Book Sale.
David mentioned that as it happens hespoke with Jim a arro about 2 weeks ago on this and it
seems that"temporary"' structure allows more leeway than"per anent" structure might be.
