BOARD of LIBRARY TRUSTEES <br /> EES <br /> REGULAR-MONTHLY-MEETING <br /> T _ _ - - - - - - -- -- <br /> THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 04 <br /> MASHPEE LIBRARY <br /> Present: David Burton,Ann MacDonald-Dailey,Dianna Smith, Carlo D'Este,Nancy Stafford,, <br /> and Helene DeFo , Library Director. <br /> Absent: Heather Lal atos. <br /> David Burton, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 635 p.m. <br /> Approval of Minutes k - . <br /> Ann motioned to accept the minutes of the Meeting held August 10, 2004 as presented; Nand <br /> seconded the motion and it was unanimous) passed. <br /> a <br /> r <br /> L <br /> M y <br /> Reschedule of September Meetin <br /> It was noted for the record that the Board of Library Trustees meeting origgnally scheduled for <br /> September 14 was rescheduled and duly posted for tonight, September 9, since State Primary <br /> Elections will be held on September 14. <br /> Director's Report <br /> Helene distributed and discussed Janet.Burke's monthly report for August. It was noted that Janet <br /> had a great surnmer program and great coverage in the T l shp a Enterprise. <br /> The painters were at the Library painting...Staff`had moved all the books, etc. to give the painters <br /> access to paint the areas. <br /> Mission Statement...Helene provided 2 drafts, which were reviewed and discussed in detail. <br /> Consensus was that the longer version containing reference to participation in CLAMS was <br /> important, especially in light of Sandwich withdrawing from CLAMS. <br /> Motion: Carlo motioned to adopt the longer version Mission Statement presented; Ann <br /> seconded this motion; and It was unanimously passed. <br /> Long-Range Plan...Helene had previously provided the Trustees with a copy of this document. <br /> Each and every section of the Long-Range Plan was discussed. Helene explained in detail each of <br /> the sections,referring to the Plan as a"blue print". Helene also explained, in particular,the <br /> updates and items ofconcern to the Town and the impact on the Library. This proposed Long- <br /> Range Plan was reviewed and discussed at length, resulting in slight edits being made to the <br /> document. highlights of some of the issues discussed are <br /> Previous attempts to expand library to 17, 0 square feet.,but if we go forward with the <br /> grant Library will be 20,000 square feet to meet grant requirements. <br /> Starting in '99 we received Early Childhood grant and brought in toddlers prior to -year <br /> olds. <br /> Young Adult is a top priority. <br /> Library added 300 DVDs. <br /> Library now take requests in any format and this has been a popular future. <br />
