BOAR F LIBRARY TRUSTEES <br /> ,.. <br /> REGULAR MONTHLY TING <br /> THIJRSDAY,FEBRUARY 19 2007 <br /> MAS EE LIBRARY <br /> Present. favid Burton, Carlo ' ste,Heather lakatos,Dianna Smith,Nancy Soderberg(arrived at 6:50 <br /> p.m.), and Helene.L eFoe,.library Director. <br /> Absent: Nancy Stafford, and Ann MacDonald-Dailey. <br /> Chairman favid Burton called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. <br /> Avoroval of Minutes <br /> Dianna Smith motioned to accept the minutes of January 9, 2007 as amended;favid Burton seconded this <br /> motion; and all Trustees present unanimously approved the notion, <br /> Reports <br /> Helene distributed copies of her monthly report for January, as well as Janet urke's monthly report. Copies <br /> of these reports are attached to the printed set of these r nutes. As explained in Helene's Helen' report, the CLAMS <br /> monthly comparison report is not yet available and therefore not provided at this meeting. <br /> Helene's report was reviewed and discussed at length. Turing the discussion Carlo asked: What if we were <br /> able to get some type of dorm payment from the State? Helene reminded the Trustees that according to <br /> Patience Jackson it is possible this summer we could get the first %of the Mate grant. <br /> Provosed-New Masi ee Librarl Build' <br /> David Burton distributed a copy of a document entitled Summary of Status of Planning for the New Mashpee <br /> Library. This document was well received by the Trustees and was discussed at lcngth. A copy of the <br /> document is attached to the printed set of these minutes. Some of the highlights of the Trustee discussion <br /> included the following: <br /> The Stewart Roberts' presentation at the January 23rd Planrdng and Construction Meeting was done in <br /> a clear manner and looping at the nurnbers it shows Town really needs to look at building the larger <br /> building under the State grant. Trustees' opin*on is it would be folly to pick another design. <br /> David informed the Trustees he had a casual conversation with Selectmen Cook and with Selectmen <br /> Myers to ensure that information on budding project put forth in the past wasreaching the Selectmen <br /> ,and to express our wish that Torn Article be supported by thern. <br /> Carlo suggested that we should state clearly that the grant was increased by 15%to $2,934,541. Also, <br /> make known fact that Representative Turkington filed a$100 million library Construction Bond Bill <br /> January.22, 2007. <br /> Helene stated that Carolyn Noah sent out a notice that Lieutenant Governor Murray(was Mayor of <br /> Worcester) is going to do a Podcast for the middle school in Shrewsbury in support of libraries. David <br /> said he will forward a Copy of the notice to the Trustees. <br /> moww <br />
