BOARD of LIBRARY TRUSTEES <br /> REGUI-AR MONY MEETING <br /> TUESDAYS JUNE 12�2007 <br /> NUSHPEE LIBRARY <br /> Present: David Burton, Carlo D'Este,Jane Dolan,Ann MacDonald-Dailey,and Helene DeFoe, Library <br /> Director <br /> Absent: Heather Lakatos,Nancy Soderberg, and Dianna Smith. <br /> Also Present: Sheldon Gilbert <br /> chaiman David Burton called the meeting to order at 635 p.m. <br /> A iro al of Minutes - <br /> Carlo D"Este motioned to accept the minutes of the Meeting of May 15, 2007 as ritten; .bane Dolan seconded <br /> this motion; and the motion was unanimously approved. <br /> Reports <br /> Helene distributed copies of her monthly report,the CLAMS circulation statistics report, and Janet urke's <br /> report for May. These reports were reviewed and discussed. Copies of the reports are attached to the printed <br /> set of these minutes. <br /> Recorded Books...Helene advised this service being terminated July Is'. <br /> Jane Dolan questioned whether or <br /> not patrons were advised the service terminated. Helene said"no",but notice will be posted. <br /> Temp2M seer circulation position—Recommendation made to the Trustees to hire Debbie Umina.for <br /> this position. She is already trained on CLAMS system and has worked at 1lashpee Library before. <br /> Motion: Ann MacDonald-Dalley motioned that we accept the recommendation to hire Debbie Umina to <br /> fill the temporary summer circulation position at the tibrar ; Carlo D to se onded this notion; and <br /> it was unanimously approved. <br /> Ashland Meeting...Helene provided a written summary of the Ashland Meeting she,David and Dianna <br /> attended on M 1 t. She said Ashland very similar to M shpee—that is, the community is 15,000, an the <br /> May � <br /> new library is 22,000 square feet, which was finished just last year. David added that the meeting was helpful <br /> and empowering. -Many of the attendees were impressed.with the signs and flyers we used and the fact that <br /> M .shpee passed.2 debt exclusions while some communities couldn't get one passed. Helene noted that some <br /> f the conununities where people were not as involved,the town just closed facilities. David said that Robert <br /> Maier,Director of the MBLC, corrected the Globe article in that one of the areas had more than one library <br /> and the closing was really a consolidation. The Trustees stressed the importance ofcontacting Governor <br /> Patrick's office to- urge that library construction funding of$100,000,000 be included in the Governor's five- <br /> Pear capital plan. David will contact the Board of Selectmen and the Town Manager and ask them to semi a <br /> letter to the Governor supporting this position. A copy of the summary is attached to the printed set of these <br /> minutes. <br /> S MLS...Last month David distributed the S MLS report and said Helene would discuss at this meeting. <br /> Helene explained the dollar amount on the memo distributed in May was fof all the SMLS services Mhpe <br /> Library used. The largest dollar amount was for the delivery of materials received from. other Massachusetts <br /> libraries. Each spring and fall, SEWS has each library count the number of items received in delivery as well <br />
