BOARD of LIBRARY Y TRUS EES � <br /> REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING <br /> }` 1 TUESDAY,JUNE 10,2008 <br /> MASIREE SENIOR CENTER CONFERENCE ROOM <br /> l <br /> Present: David Burton, Carlo D'Este,Jane Dolan, Fancy Soderberg, Heather Lakatos, Dianna Smith, and Helene <br /> DeFoe,Library Director. <br /> Absent: John Kowalski. <br /> Chairman David Burton called the meeting to order a 6:40 p.m. David opened the meeting by saying that the June <br /> opening of the library temporary location site went extremely well. David officially congratulated Helene DeFoe and <br /> her staff'on a job well done. Helene was asked to thank the library staff, on behalf of the Board of Library Trustees. <br /> Helene thanked the Board and,in particular, thanked Jane Dolan for the many tasks and countless hogs Jane put in <br /> setting uP t o children's shelves. Helene noted that she mentioned this in her monthly report to be reviewed at this <br /> meeting. Jane Dolan commented that after working with the library staff for 1-1 2 days she saw they are all <br /> perfectionists. <br /> . .ov.al of mute <br /> Fancy Soderberg motioned-to accept the minutes of the Meeting of May 13, 2008 asmodified; Carlo l ' ste seconded <br /> this motion; and the Board approved it,with Heather Laktos and Dianna Smith abstaining. <br /> Reports <br /> Helene DeFoe submitted her monthly report for May, the May CLAMS circulation report, along with Janet Burke's <br /> report for May. All reports are attached to the printed set of these minutes. <br /> The reports were reviewed and discussed. In reviewing and discussing Helene's report she advised the Tmstees that: <br /> • <br /> CLAMS statistics only for -week period during May because library was closed to pack and move to the <br /> temporary location in South Cape Viflage. Wherefore, the numbers reflect that. . <br /> • Helene advised the Board that she was very impressed and pleasantly surprised with the work and coordinated <br /> move done by the nen from the correctional facility. Helene said they did a great job and worked very hard. <br /> Helene informed the Board that everything is going along vert well at the Joy Street location ecct they don't <br /> i <br /> have sufficient phone handsets;but David DelVecchio will remedy this by ordering a phone for each desk. <br /> Helene suggested to the Board that the library increase the number of items patrons can cheek out so that will <br /> free up space on the shelves for new acquisitions. Helene explained that right now we don't have extra space <br /> for new items. Helene suggested increasing book checkout to 15 books(currently to books is the limit), and <br /> allow patrons to check out as many VHS tapes as they want(currently limited to . <br /> Motion: Dianna Smyth motioned that the Library increase the number of books and VHS tapes to be checked out <br /> to be 15 books and unlimited VHS tapes,as recommended by Helene DeFoe,Library Dirge tor; this motion was <br /> seconded by David Bu-rton-,and was unanimously approved. <br /> Library Since <br /> The Board discussed Library signage at the vacated library and at South Cape Village. The-consensus was that it would <br /> be helpful if signage could be placed at the vacated library site stating something like"we've moved to South Cape <br /> Village". David suggested that perhaps this could be added at the bottom of the sign currently on the property stating <br /> new library coning. <br /> Nancy Soderberg asked Helene whether or not Melinda Gallant could add Library signage to the South Cape Village <br /> ladder sign so the public knows that the library is there temporarily. Helene said she would check into this. <br />
