Garland, Selectmen,. <br /> Joseph Reardon, Town Counsel <br /> 1 At 2: 00 the Chairman called for Hearing by New England Telephone <br /> Company, by reading the legal notice . There was no one present <br /> to support nor oppose the request, Approval granted. <br /> 2 At 2: 1the Chairman opened the Hearing requested by the New Bed- <br /> ford Gas and Light Company, seeking 'permission to move a Pole. <br /> There was a red resentative present to explain the request; no <br /> opponents present. Approval granted. <br /> Dog Officer Ames was present to request permission of the Board <br /> to seek complaints in District Court to force the owners of a <br /> pack of dogs which have been roaming Sconset Beact, to liven-se <br /> and restrain said dogs . There have been reports that there are <br /> 30 dogs tra ding in a pack. Board granted Dog officer approval <br /> for taking requested action. <br /> Board also assured Dog officer they were including an article in <br /> the warrant for the Annual Town Meeting to purchase a new vehicle <br /> for his use-, (his present vehicle shows mileage over 225, 000) . <br /> 4 resident present to complain of jet noise at 2 : 00 a.M. Chairman <br /> O' Connell exp lai.ned that this Board has no control over this activity* <br /> It was suggested he write to Congressman Studds and Senator Kennedy, <br /> to voice his complaint. <br /> Hugh McCarty of the Press questioned the amounts being placed in the <br /> Warrant for reimbursement of Selectmen, It was explained that pay- <br /> ment would be broken down as follows : $4 ,000 salary for each select- <br /> -man, plus $1,200 in-town expense for each selectman. Prior to <br /> placing this breakdown in the warrant, however, a decision has been <br /> sought from Town Counselb <br /> a <br /> member of the press asked if the Town of I ash ee had obtained the <br /> volunteer services of Local builders , as previously discussed, to <br /> provide estimates of the eostfor renovating the Old Eire Station. <br /> They were told that Willard Hansen, Joseph Peters and Edgar Tobey <br /> had all examined the building, along with Fred Hicks of the Historic <br /> Commission. <br /> Mr. Collins , Building . Inspector, arrived and informed those present <br /> that there -are presently no Historical. Buildings in the Town of <br /> Mashpee , as listed in the State Building Code Directory. Chairman - <br /> 'O' Connell explained that this is what the Historic Commission is <br /> attempting to accomplish - to have the old Fire Station designated <br /> a Historic Building, so that it can be listed in the Directory. Be- <br /> fore this can be done, certain stipulations must be complied with. <br /> The Board decided to ask the Building Inspector to lift thecondemna- <br /> tion of the old Fire Station for historical purposes , only, and to <br /> ask Brad Norman to assign a .E.T.A. crew to begin a clean-up there. <br /> (See letters attached. <br />
