MINUTES APRIL 2 , 1980 <br /> The April 2, 1980 was called to order by chairman O'Connell at p.m. <br /> Present: George Benwar, Chester Garland, Kevin O'Connell and Town Counsel, <br /> Joseph Reardon,, <br /> The minutes. of the March 2 6 , 1980 m etir were a roved. <br /> Mr. Benway asked that we get in touch with the Towns of Wareham and <br /> Franklin re the insurance survey information. Letters were sent some <br /> time ago, but no response. <br /> Ch airman O' Connell recognized Mr. Harry Edmed. He asked the Board if <br /> they were aware of highway department employees using the town vehicles <br /> } for personal use. Mr. Benway asked hire what did he mean by personal <br /> use. Mr. Edmued stated that they take the trucks home with them. , Mr. <br /> enway then stated that due to s.o much vanalism, they are taken home <br /> so that this situation doesn' t continue. we have no place to ut the <br /> vehicles. Mr, Edmed thea asked ghat about insurance coverage . Chr. <br /> O' Connell stated that they were covered whether in a parking lot of the <br /> town, or in there own backyard. The Blakemen' s asked about the four <br /> wheel drive. They stated that the foreman takes this home with hien, and <br /> chr. O' Connell once again stated that there is insurance coverage. He <br /> al§o stated that in b&d weather, it is a must and will look into the <br /> reasoning or why it is still being taken home. <br /> Mr. lenway stated we have received a letter from Police Chief David <br /> O' Connor re the Red Rooster, and that we are awaiting a departmental <br /> disposition e.f -r,e looking into the complaint against the Red .-Rooster. <br /> Chairman O' Connell read- a--letter from Friends of the Mashpee Library <br /> declaring that Sunday, April 13 , 1980 be proclaimed " t t ,- prin Day. " <br /> Programs, activities, and films will be continuous from 11 : 00 a.m. <br /> to 3: 00 p,m, <br /> Chairman O' Connell recognized Mr. James Ames , Dog Officer. Mr. Ames <br /> asked that $1200. 00 be transferred to his expense account for the remainder <br /> of the year as the cruiser has cost a considerable amount of money in <br /> repairs , such as starter, alternator and tires . The cruiser is down now, <br /> and Mr. Ames is using his own car. Mr. Denwar stated that a bid is out <br /> for . a new vehicle, and that the present one be included in the bid a <br /> trade-i . <br /> Mr. Ames then asked about his salary. He said he net with the Finance <br /> Committee and that it is set for $10 , 900 for the upcoming year. He asked <br /> the hoard to reconsider and would like his salary hiked to $12 , 500, which <br /> is keeping up with the rest of the Dock Officers on cape Cod. chr-. <br /> O' Connell said they would take it under advisement. <br /> Mr. Ames stated that he is now backing working on weekends and that i <br /> he will be taking Tuesday and Wednesday' s off* <br /> - 1 <br />
