The selectmen explained that it was purchased <br /> front ars individual and that it was a used weapon, but in practically <br /> new condition. <br /> 2 Regarding the material left by General code Publishers , the Executive <br /> Secretary asked if the Selectmen wanted to follow through with their <br /> service. Sel. Thomas thought it would be a big help to engage their <br /> services for the Government 'study committee. Mr. Murphy agreed that <br /> he realized from previous conversations with that committee that the <br /> legal source of some of our Town laws has been a real problem. He <br /> agreed that this service sounds good, but warned that it will take a <br /> lot of the Town Clerk's s time. The Selectmen - felt it would be worth <br /> the time required. <br /> Insurance coverage for terminated employees. The -Executive Secretary <br /> asked how the Selectmen felt about the continuation of insurance for <br /> people involuntarily terminated by the Town. Although this would only <br /> apply to one person this year, depending on what the Legislature does <br /> with 2 , there may be considerably more next year, This could repre- <br /> sent a sizeable cost to the Town. <br /> ohm, Garland stated that to make a decision, we would need to ]snow <br /> how much we're talking about. The Executive secretary estimated the <br /> cost would be $400 for one person for six months. The Chairman then <br /> stated that it would be about $4 ,000 for ten people, plus unemployment <br /> payments. Mr., Garland said he could understand how this would be good <br /> in ' terms of the individual, but could be bad for the Town. The Execu- <br /> tive secretary -concluded by saying perhaps it should be brought up for <br /> consideration at an Annual Town Meeting, Sel. Thomas said that we <br /> should have a cost factor ready, for example 6 employees who are on <br /> the family plan <br /> Ir. Garland asked if the Board should- be setting the date for a Special <br /> Town Fleeting. fir. Murphy said this really can#t . be done until the <br /> Town' s free cash is certified, the amount of local aid were going to <br /> received determined, etc. <br /> The Executive secretary asked what had been ahppening on Monotoscoy <br /> culvert problem? TheChairman - explained that the 3 selectmen, Jerry <br /> ahir and Jack from the State had gone out to view the problem. <br /> The gentlemen from the State commissioner' s office and Jerry cahi.r <br /> will lay out some language to get the Town started towards a solution, <br /> then the Selectmen will take this information back to the people. There <br /> are approximately 700 homes in the area that are affected. The Execu- <br /> tive secretary questioned the "priority list! mentioned in the minutes. <br /> el. Thomas explained that there was an annual meeting that used to be <br /> held on the cape, at which time each town presented its priorities for <br /> dredging. <br /> sed.. Thomas continued that Gov: King has endorsed dredging for barrier <br /> beaches,~ which is encouraging, Mr. Murphy asked what would be dome <br /> with the spoils, sel. Thomas said ideally t.h.ey would be 'recycled, but <br /> agreed with Mr. Murphy that it takes gears to get permission for some- <br /> thing life that, and where do you stoke it in the meantime? <br />
