Joseph Murphy, Executive Secretary, was also present. <br /> Selectmen - Jeremy Carter and Peter Lawrence arrived a71-10Pe ISI. <br /> Chairwoman Thomas convened -t is meeting a P. Mo <br /> Selectman Hans ori moved that the Board accept the minutes of the <br /> regular, meeting held on June 3 , .1987. Mr. Gottlieb seconded the <br /> motion. The vote was unanimous . <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS : <br /> 1. shellfish Constable re : various shellfish matters . <br /> Pursuant to his memorandum' dated Tune 3 . 19879 Constable Ryan re- <br /> quested permission for shellfish grantholder, Rick Kuusela, to <br /> harvest quahogs from his grant, which is Grant #5, with a small <br /> mechanized dredge . if this operation is allowed, the Constable <br /> has prepared guidelines for the use of said dredge . Mr. Kuusela <br /> was present and gave a brief description of this proposed operation, <br /> r. Hanson moved that the Board e rani t Rick Ku s e la to dredge the <br /> Grant #5 area as discussed and in accordance with stipulations set <br /> forth by the shellfish Constable , Mr. Gottlieb seconded the motion. <br /> The vote was unanimous ,, <br /> (Note : Messrs . Carter and Lawrence arrived at this point in the <br /> proceedings . ) <br /> Regarding a different subject, Constable Ryas stated <br /> that in cooperation with the Barnstable County Extension Service and <br /> a. volunteer commercial fisherman from the Town of Falmouth here <br /> is an opportunity to conduct an experiment concerning the rejuve- <br /> nation <br /> e uve-� <br /> nationofjuvenileshellfishin waquoit Bay, specifically along the <br /> shoreline at the tip of Seconsett Island. The experiment involves <br /> the taking of and the analysis of bottom sediments in that area of <br /> wa uoi-t Bay. The testing will regard acidic levels of the sediment <br /> which is believed to inhibit maturation of juvenile shellfish. Mr. <br /> Ryan described steps of the experiment.
