21
Mr. Harrington then stated that it was Barnes Tree Company. He didn't have a
chance to obtain the phone number and contact them for information for removal.
Mrs. Murphy stated that the tree company told her that they were going to be back
to remove the branches but they hadn't returned. She didn't know what else she
could do about the flies.
Mr. Ball stated that she could contact a pest control professional. He'll give her an
integrated pest management program. If she abides by that, it will eliminate her fly
problem. It is free. He'll come down and give her what you should or shouldn't do.
Maybe her three hours fly spray system could go down to one. Seclusion or moving
the manure. It is called an "integrated pest management program".
Mrs. Murphy continued by stating that they live across the street from a
conservation area. The detritus over there is incredible. She has seen these lovely
people that were here tonight taking their dead branches and leaves and dump
them across the street. Oak leaves are very noxious, as this stuff breaks down it
smells like skunk urine not horse urine. Mr. Harrington walked into her barn the
other day. The stalls hadn't been cleaned yet. She then asked Mr. Harrington if he
smelled any urine.
Mr. Harrington stated that he didn't smell any horse urine.
Mrs. Murphy continued by stating that she would guarantee that the BOH would
not smell that at her place. She told Mr. Harrington that she feeds the horse alfalfa
cubes. They are 50/50 timothy and alfalfa. They are better than hay because they
don't have dust or mold, plus they don't eat them off the ground. It also makes
them drink more water and their urine is clearer. She could have her veterinarian,
John Leach, and his father before him. She has the horses' teeth "floated" twice a
year.
Mr. Doherty asked if Mrs. Murphy was going to be home tomorrow. He asked if she
minded if he stopped by. He would just like to stop by. If she sees Mr. Harrington
out there once a month she should understand that he is just there to make sure
that everything is fine. It doesn't have to be.an adversarial thing.
Mrs. Murphy stated that he could stop by whenever he wanted. She is home every
day. Don't let her know that she is coming. But, she needs them to understand
that she has bad days too.
Mr. Doherty explained that he understood that completely because everyone has
the same issues at one time or another.
She then asked the BOH members if they knew "George Heufelder" (Head of the
Barnstable County Health Department).
The BOH members replied that they did in fact know him.
Mrs. Murphy continued stating that his daughter rides with her. She has never
