12
Mr. James McCarthy, association president, stated that his only question is
that he had spoken previously with Ms. Warden regarding the possibility of the
Town getting some Federal money for the association to complete this task.
Mr. Doherty didn't think there would be any money available through a Federal
process.
A conversation ensued as to what assistance was available or.who would be
better able to assist Mr. McCarthy with this request. He was given a number of
names and numbers of individuals on both the Federal and State level who
might be able to help him.
Mr. Santos made a motion to grant the S' variance to the property line. Mr. Ball
seconded the motion. Variance granted. The abutter has been notified.
APPOINTMENT: Nelson & Salete Baptiste Illegal Dumping, Noisy Hole Road
Mr. Harrington interrupted the discussion of this topic by bringing up another
related topic. He is in receipt of letter from our department to the DPW. The
Town just purchased 30 acres over off of Meetinghouse and Noisy Hole Road,
which is a very big illegal dumping ground. Ms. Warden and Mr. Harrington
made a run through this past week and discovered three illegal dumping sites.
Linda Kane was one of them along with two other names and addresses. But,
the BOH is still confirming the background and evidence on them before they
cite them.
Mr. Ball asked if that was where the old dump was.
Mr. Harrington confirmed that it was the old dump. The BOH has been through
the trash that is noted in this particular letter. However, the BOH is asking the
DPW to help in the clean up as well as keeping their eyes open for any further
evidence in order to help out the BOH investigation.
Ms. Warden returned to the room and provided the BOH members with the
following details regarding the Nelson and Salete Baptiste illegal dumping
citation. Ms. Warden began by stating that this situation dates back to June.
She hadn't had an opportunity to follow up on it until now. Furthermore, she
had expected to hear back from the Mashpee Court Officer, Doug Flynn. She
waited and waited. She called Officer Flynn who advised her that he had never
received the citation along with the letter. There has always been a lot of
confusion between those departments issuing citations and the police
department following up. The police department doesn't always get their mail.
Officer Flynn stated that they are handling things differently at this time. He
advised Ms. Warden to call the Falmouth district courthouse and speak with
Denise Fish. Ms. Warden spoke with Ms. Fish who stated that she hadn't been
in receipt of this information. Ms. Fish said that there was a new format. Ms.
Warden followed the recommended format. In the meantime, Mrs. Baptiste had
called and requested an appointment. Mrs. Baptiste denied having done the
illegal dumping. Mrs. Baptiste failed to show for the appointment.
