10
John Cahalane assumed is that there was some type of county program that they
would be able to use.
Ms. Warden stated that they were totally misinformed. They knew that something
like this takes a long time to go through the state. Mr. Ayers stated it takes three
or four years down the line before they get their hands on that money. Ms.
Warden knew that was the case. She explained this to Ms. Mason and stated that
they could always indefinitely postpone it on the floor if that should come about at
an earlier date. Ms. Mason agreed with her. An afterthought was that she could
have asked Kendall Ayers to go. Again, she would have gone but was told
otherwise.
Mr. Ball said "shame on us since there was two other Board members who weren't
even informed and who could have attended the meeting." He wanted someone
either Ms. Warden or Mr. Doherty to go to the Chairman of the Board and have
this changed. Lastly, Mr. Ball wanted to know how they got to this position.
Ms. Warden was told days subsequent to the last Selectmen's meeting that it was
pulled. She further stated that Kendall Ayres spoke with John Cahalane and
Joyce Mason. She submitted the article the Selectmen reviewed it and pulled it.
The BOH submits it every year and the amount is $200,000.00. She did not
understand how or why they pulled it.
Mr. Santos stated that in all fairness to everyone upstairs. When they go to these
meetings they are not being properly informed on the decisions that are being
placed in front of them. Hopefully in the very near future they will get a strong
town administrator.
Mr. Ball stated that neither himself nor Mr. Santos had been apprised of the
situation they could have attended. He felt that Mr. Doherty could have informed
them.
Ms. Warden stated that it was a last minute situation in which they were led to
believe that everything would be okay at the Town meeting.
Mr. Ball felt that Ms. Warden should write a letter to the Selectmen requesting
that the article be put on. Even if the warrant already went to print he wants the
BOH to cover themselves by showing their disapproval of the Town of Mashpee
Board of Selectmen's failure to have this article placed on the warrant.
Mr. Samry stated that Monday, August 20th, 2001, there was some discussion
about that this was a capital issue regarding money and should have come up in
May. He believes that this is how it got started.
NEW BUSINESS
OLD BUSINESS
a. Mike's Gas Station
Mr. Ball wanted to know if the gas station paid their fine.
