TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> SENIOR CENTER BUILDING COMMITTEE <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of May 4, 2004 <br /> Committee Attendees Other Attendees <br /> Irving Goldberg Jim Long, Director, COA <br /> Harold Klegman Jim Marr, Assistant Town Administrator <br /> Jean Noussee <br /> Betty Nichols <br /> Chairman Irving Goldberg called the meeting to order at 1:35 PM. <br /> REVIEW OF 4-20-04 MINUTES <br /> The 4/20/04 minutes were corrected as follows: page 2, under STUDY PROJECTS, Irrigation, <br /> the second sentence should read, We also has received a bid of$2500 for the irrigation." The <br /> minutes were unanimously approved as corrected. <br /> BILLS. <br /> Chairman Goldberg reported receipt of the following four bills for approval by the Committee. <br /> 1) $100,217 from Statewide Engineering Construction Co. <br /> 2) $1,960 from Clerk of the Works for the period from 4/19/04 through 4130/04. <br /> 3) $1,250 from Pastore Excavation for removal of the ropes course on the site <br /> 4) $1,080 from Eastern Pest Control for installing termite protection under the slab <br /> After review.of the four bills, it was moved and seconded that the bills be approved for payment. <br /> The motion was unanimously approved. <br /> Iry reported that the Plumbing Inspector discovered missing flush pipes to the drain. Two of the <br /> pipes were properly fitted, but five or six more needed to be installed, at an additional cost of <br /> $2850. Damp proofing of the walls was deleted from the contract, because it was not required by <br /> code. The contractor therefore deducted $720, the cost of the damp proofing, from the$2850 <br /> charge, bringing it down to$2137. Betty Nichols moved that Change Order 1 be approved for <br /> $2137. The motion was seconded, and unanimously approved by the committee. <br /> REPORTS. <br /> Clerk of the Works. Iry reported on the Site Meeting held Monday morning, 5/03/05. <br /> - NSTAR problem still persists. There still is no permanent electrical power to the site. A <br /> generator is now feeding electricity to the building. NSTAR is committed to provide drawings <br /> necessary to put in power on May 17th. Electricians estimated that there would be permanent <br /> power two weeks later. <br /> -Trenching is being completed. <br /> - Plumbing has been checked under the slab <br /> - Lumber for the framing has been delivered. The framer will install a trailer on site for an office. <br /> -Trusses are being built <br /> -The contractor has asked for weather delay days in addition to the 20 days already provided. <br /> He will send a letter requesting the extra weather days. Joyce Mason has authorized work on <br /> Saturdays. <br /> -The Town is going out for bids on sewer connection to Mashpee Commons. <br /> -Water Department has given the okay to tum on the water. <br /> -There are conflicts on parking lot grades between the Boys & Girls Club and the Senior Center. <br /> The issue is being investigated. <br /> There is a crack on the flooring, which is being investigated. <br /> 1 <br />
