TOWN OF MASHPEE SENIOR CENTER BUILDING COMMITTEE Minutes of the Meeting of May 4, 2004 Committee Attendees Other Attendees Irving Goldberg Jim Long, Director, COA Harold Klegman Jim Marr, Assistant Town Administrator Jean Noussee Betty Nichols Chairman Irving Goldberg called the meeting to order at 1:35 PM. REVIEW OF 4-20-04 MINUTES The 4/20/04 minutes were corrected as follows: page 2, under STUDY PROJECTS, Irrigation, the second sentence should read, We also has received a bid of$2500 for the irrigation." The minutes were unanimously approved as corrected. BILLS. Chairman Goldberg reported receipt of the following four bills for approval by the Committee. 1) $100,217 from Statewide Engineering Construction Co. 2) $1,960 from Clerk of the Works for the period from 4/19/04 through 4130/04. 3) $1,250 from Pastore Excavation for removal of the ropes course on the site 4) $1,080 from Eastern Pest Control for installing termite protection under the slab After review.of the four bills, it was moved and seconded that the bills be approved for payment. The motion was unanimously approved. Iry reported that the Plumbing Inspector discovered missing flush pipes to the drain. Two of the pipes were properly fitted, but five or six more needed to be installed, at an additional cost of $2850. Damp proofing of the walls was deleted from the contract, because it was not required by code. The contractor therefore deducted $720, the cost of the damp proofing, from the$2850 charge, bringing it down to$2137. Betty Nichols moved that Change Order 1 be approved for $2137. The motion was seconded, and unanimously approved by the committee. REPORTS. Clerk of the Works. Iry reported on the Site Meeting held Monday morning, 5/03/05. - NSTAR problem still persists. There still is no permanent electrical power to the site. A generator is now feeding electricity to the building. NSTAR is committed to provide drawings necessary to put in power on May 17th. Electricians estimated that there would be permanent power two weeks later. -Trenching is being completed. - Plumbing has been checked under the slab - Lumber for the framing has been delivered. The framer will install a trailer on site for an office. -Trusses are being built -The contractor has asked for weather delay days in addition to the 20 days already provided. He will send a letter requesting the extra weather days. Joyce Mason has authorized work on Saturdays. -The Town is going out for bids on sewer connection to Mashpee Commons. -Water Department has given the okay to tum on the water. -There are conflicts on parking lot grades between the Boys & Girls Club and the Senior Center. The issue is being investigated. There is a crack on the flooring, which is being investigated. 1
