TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> SENIOR CENTER BUILDING COMMITTEE <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of June 7, 2004 <br /> Committee Attendees: Also Attending <br /> Irving Goldberg Jim Long, Director, COA <br /> Ed Adams Ernest Virgilio, Clerk of the Works <br /> Jean Noussee <br /> Betty Nichols <br /> Chairman Irving Goldberg called the meeting to order at 1:35 PM. <br /> REVIEW OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes from the meeting of 5/24/04 were corrected as follows: on page 2, under STUDY <br /> PROJECTS, Landscaping, line 2, the name James Gomey is corrected to read Steve Gorney. <br /> The minutes were unanimously approved as corrected. <br /> BILLS. <br /> Chairman Irving Goldberg reported receipt of the following bills: <br /> 1. Briggs Engineering, $130.00 <br /> 2. Statewide Engineering Construction Co., $311,406 <br /> 3. Clerk of the Works, $2,040 <br /> The Town has reviewed all the bills. After review of the bills, the committee unanimously <br /> approved and signed off on their payment. <br /> REPORTS. <br /> Clerk of the Works. Ernie Virgilio reported: <br /> 1. Due to the rain last week, the framer cut his crew from 13 to 6 persons. Ernie <br /> expressed concern about staying on target with the work schedule. To date, the <br /> contractor has used 2 of the 28 days allotted for weather delay. <br /> 2. Ernie stated that 18 windows had been installed during rainy weather, and were not <br /> covered after installation. The installers were put on notice to cover the windows, or they <br /> will not be paid if damaged. <br /> 3. DPW will cut the asphalt and repair the Boys and Girls Club parking area after the <br /> heavy equipment vehicles no longer will be using the space. <br /> 4.The sub-contractors are not supplying the necessary manpower for the contractor. The <br /> exception to this is the plumber. <br /> Overall, the project is going along very well. <br /> Grant Manager. No report. An update will be provided at the next committee meeting. <br /> Site Meeting. Irving Goldberg reported: <br /> 1 Nstar has completed installation of the permanent electrical power source. <br /> 2 Authorization was given by the Boys and Girls Club to cross their parking lot for <br /> installation of utilities. Asphalt will be repaired when the work is completed. <br /> 3 Clerk of the Works will look into whether lightning protection on the cupola is included in <br /> the construction drawings. Irv's understanding is that it is definitely to be included. <br /> STUDY PROJECTS <br /> Furnishings. Jim Long reported: <br /> 1. Jim reiterated the approval by the Senior Center Building Committee, at its 5/24/04 <br /> meeting, of the revised color boards provided by JCA. <br /> 2. Jim has just received from VTC a color pattern of tiles for the floor, and will be reviewing <br /> it with the furnishings subcommittee at their meeting tomorrow, June 8'", at 2 PM at the <br /> Senior Center. <br /> 1 <br />
