Clerk of the Works(cont1d) <br /> Mr. Virgilio reported that progress has been good. All walls are now sheet rocked;the sprinkler <br /> system is being installed, with testing still going on by the Fire Department; the skylight is due in a <br /> few weeks. Yet to be completed is the roofing, the front entry, the porch in the rear, the shingling, <br /> and installation of the cupola. <br /> Grant Manager. Susan Gray distributed copies of the Senior Center Project Budget dated <br /> 8/09/04. She reported that there has been very little change since the report prior to this one. <br /> There is an$1800 change in the Clerk of the Works,which is now down to$7,580. The JCA fee <br /> is down to$29,600, and with the JCA invoice received today, it will come down to$11,500. <br /> Reimbursable expenses will come down another$56. Susan reminded the committee that the <br /> Grant Manager's fee is paid from grant funds. The$1200 surplus will go to the Clerk of the <br /> Works for testing. There may be an additional bill for the high pressure testing of the sprinkler <br /> system. There is still$46,772 remaining in the construction contingency fund. <br /> Susan Gray stated that the payrolls are now being received in a timely fashion. She also <br /> reported that the grant termination date is 9/30/04. DACD has been contacted to request an <br /> extension of the grant termination date to 1/15/05. This date includes the 30 days after the <br /> completion date of the building. Susan expects that the extension request will be granted. <br /> Additional extension requests are possible, if needed. <br /> PROJECTS <br /> Furnishings—Jim Long. Jim reported that the specs on the furniture for the new senior center <br /> had been completed. He has received a bid of$75,000 from W.B. Watson. The furniture is mid <br /> level price, not high end. The bid includes the following items: <br /> - For the conference room, a 10 ft. veneer finish table with 14 chairs, buffet and credenza <br /> - for Lynn Waterman's office, a desk, credenza, lateral files and overhead bookcases <br /> - for the administration area, a 15-ft. reception desk with filing units underneath <br /> - for the lobby, 4 chairs around a 36" table <br /> - for the lounge, sofas and side chairs <br /> - for the arts and crafts room, lightweight but sturdy folding tables @$515 per table <br /> - for the great room, 160 chairs <br /> The office chairs are priced at$300 per chair. The chairs for the great room are stackable, and <br /> are priced at$124 per chair with arms, $116 per chair without arms. The bid price includes 80 <br /> chairs with arms, 80 without. <br /> Jim Long stated that the next step is to get additional bids from other furniture companies. He <br /> hopes to come in at a price of$60,000 for the furniture to allow$40,000 for the window <br /> treatments and miscellaneous items such as dollies for the chairs and tables. Chair fabrics and <br /> colors still need to be decided. Iry Goldberg requested that the building committee sit in on the <br /> next furniture selection meeting. <br /> Landscaping—Ed Adams. Ed reported that he and Iry Goldberg met with Mashpee Commons <br /> to discuss the irrigation and well projects. <br /> Irrigation. Ed reported on quotes he had received for the irrigation installation. Vola in <br /> Centerville quoted$4100. The company has since come down to $3000, with an additional . <br /> $2000 if Mashpee Commons is hooked into the system at a later date. If Mashpee Commons <br /> and the Senior Center irrigation system were installed at the same time, the cost would be$4000. <br /> Viola will reduce the price from $4000 to $2500, if a smaller pump is installed. The larger pump <br /> would be an additional$700. Ed has two additional irrigation companies to contact for quotes. <br /> Landscaping. No landscaping can be done until the irrigation system is installed. The <br /> landscaping may well have to be postponed until spring 2005. Ed has written a letter to <br /> Mahoney's up in Winchester, through a personal friend of Mahoney's at FMSC, requesting their <br /> assistance in planning the landscaping for the new Senior Center. <br /> Brickwork Plan for Patio. Iry Goldberg presented a brickwork drawing for the patio prepared by <br /> the FMSC. The plan has three squares of bricks, each with"'a border of bricks 8"x 8" square, and <br /> 2 <br />
