Roche Brothers Donation. Iry reported that Roche Brothers has announced a donation of$50,000 to <br /> the new Senior Center, to be designated for room naming of the Great Room. The gift will be in two <br /> parts: the first$25,000 has been received, and the second $25,000 will come in November. <br /> Kitchen Equipment Procurement by FMSC. The FMSC received six bids on providing the kitchen <br /> equipment. A meeting was held last week with the low bidder, Trimark, who came in with a bid of <br /> $39,200. Installation costs amounting to approximately$1000 to$2000 will be in addition to this. <br /> Trimark has recommended selection of a different stove. The stove company named in the bid is on the <br /> West Coast, which would make shipping and repairs very costly. Two companies on the East Coast have <br /> been recommended for consideration. A vote will be needed to approve the donation from the FMSC for <br /> kitchen equipment. The vote will be postponed until after a decision is made on the selection of a <br /> different stove company. <br /> Audio System. Audio Associates in Orleans were the only bidder on the project. It was moved and <br /> seconded that the committee procure the Audio Associates for installation of the system. The motion was <br /> unanimously passed. Ed Adams will contact Audio Associates to inform them of the decision. Cost for <br /> the installation will be approximately$9000, which will come from the donation fund held by the Town of <br /> Mashpee. Iry stated that there would be no problem in advance wiring for the audio system. Joyce <br /> Mason will coordinate the timing of advance wiring with Ernie Virgilio and the contractor. <br /> Security System. The committee is still waiting for additional quotes on the project. One official quote <br /> has been received to date. <br /> STUDY PROJECTS <br /> Furnishings. Jim Long reported that the furnishings in-house subcommittee has had two meetings and <br /> will be meeting again next week. Tom O'Neill, a Mashpee interior designer and architect, has agreed to <br /> join the committee, as well as Diana Lannon, an interior decorator who lives in Mashpee. Iry stated that <br /> JCA is still working oncoming up with color boards and fabric samples. Jim stated that Trimark has an <br /> interior design staff, which would be available for consultation. The subcommittee suggested that it might <br /> be a goad idea to engage a professional interior designer who has expertise on choice of furniture <br /> appropriate for a senior center. Sandra Tutthill, a Willowbend resident, was also suggested as a possible <br /> interior decorator whose expertise might be tapped. <br /> Landscaping. Ed Adams reported that his subcommittee consisting of Ellis Allen, Jane and Dick <br /> Cappellati, had visited the site and had done some measuring. There are six islands to be considered for <br /> landscaping, as well as the ground perimeter around the building. The subcommittee has drawn up a <br /> detailed plan for the landscaping, taking into consideration criteria including seasonals, perennials, room <br /> for annuals, shade, colors-spring, summer and fall colors-and low maintenance. They put together a <br /> list of plantings together with numbers of each required, prices1or each, and total price. There is a <br /> planting cost included in the report as well. (See Attachment A). All of the planting will not be done in <br /> the fall. A timing phase will be worked out for the entire planting process. A priority list will be established <br /> if all the plantings are not available. Tavares has offered to.donate some trees. Mahoney will sell some <br /> plantings for 30% off. After a landscape plan is finalized, Mashpee Commons will be consulted to <br /> determine their interest in contributing to the landscaping. The planting of buffer trees between the <br /> abutters and the senior center site will be the responsibility of the Town. <br /> Ed reported that the donation of a fountain had been offered for the senior center grounds. Use of a <br /> fountain would require electricity and a pump and would require advance planning for location of the <br /> fountain, for access to electricity and piping. <br /> A field trip to Harwich to visit a Rose Society garden display is planned by the subcommittee members. <br /> Ed will have a landscaping plan drawn up by the subcommittee for consideration for the next building <br /> committee meeting. <br /> 2 <br />
