STUDY PROJECTS Landscaping. Ed Adams reported that two large boulders have been donated, which are planned for placement at two islands on the site. The donation includes installation of the boulders. Ellis Allen has reported that Tavares has offered to plant, free of charge, any and all trees that are donated to the Senior Center. Jane and Dick Capelotti displayed their proposed landscaping plan for the site. The total cost of the plan, including installation, was priced at $42,000. Shrubs were selected with low maintenance in mind. The committee, after reviewing the landscaping plan, agreed that the number of plantings could be cut back significantly, to fall in line more appropriately with plantings for a municipal building. It was felt that the landscaping costs could be reduced to $35,000. Jane will scale back her list of plantings to meet the $35,000 budget, and will prepare a revised landscaping plan for review at the next meeting. Irrigation. Harold Klegman reported that he had received a bid of$2800 from Scannel for installation of a well at the site. He also has received a bid of$2500 for the irrigation. Harold is estimating that there will be approximately 15,000 sq. ft. of land that will require irrigation. Furnishings. Jim Long is looking into finding a local interior decorator to assist with furniture selection. A meeting for the furniture subcommittee is planned for Wednesday, April 21"at 4:30 PM at the Senior Center. JCA has provided three suggested color scheme boards, which were on display at the committee meeting today. If it is determined that none of the color schemes is acceptable to the committee. JCA will be requested to come up with alternate schemes for consideration. DONATIONS APPROVALS Kitchen equipment. The funds for kitchen equipment have been procured from the FMSC. The equipment is the exact design that is in the drawings, with the exception of the stove. The architect recommended an alternate stove with thermostat, from Southbend, of higher quality. The stove has been ordered, and JCA will be submitting construction drawings to the committee for approval for the items they will have to fabricate. Cost for the kitchen equipment, installed, is$39,847. Audio system. Cast of the system installed is $8,713. COA has donated funds from their donation account to procure this system. Security system. Cost of the system installed is $2,375. COA has donated funds from their donation account to procure this system. The committee moved, seconded, and unanimously approved that the donations be accepted for procurement of the kitchen equipment, audio and security systems, as priced above. ADD ALTERNATES (See Attachment A). Statewide has provided an estimate of their cost of the items on the Add Alternate list. Iry stated that installation of the ceramic tile probably could be done more reasonably after completion of the building. He also stated that with the expected donations coming in by November, there would be enough funds to cover the items on the Add Alternate list. FUND RAISING. Mashpee Commons has made a donation of$25,000 to the FMSC. There will be a photo op in several weeks to announce the gift. The fundraising gift thermometers will be updated at that time. OPEN DISCUSSION. Iry announced that he will be out of town from Saturday, 4/24/04, returning on Saturday, 5/01/04. Ed Adams agreed to serve as acting Chairman in Irv's absence. Iry announced a Coffee & Cake Sendoff that will be held in honor of David Leveilee, who is retiring from the Mashpee Board of Selectmen. The event is scheduled for Monday, April 26th, 2004 from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Town Hall, prior to David's last regular meeting as a Selectman. 2
