TOWN OF MASHPEE SENIOR CENTER BUILDING COMMITTEE GRAND OPENING PLANNING MEETING December 22, 2004 Committee Attendees: Irving Goldberg Bonnie Oehme Ed Adams Wayne Taylor Gail Barmett Marilyn Land Jean Noussee Bud Abbott Art Weinstein Jim Long Irving Goldberg called the meeting to order at 2:00 PM. INVITATIONS. Iry displayed the final draft of the invitation,which was prepared by the Mashpee High School print shop. Two changes to the draft were noted. The color of the lettering on the cover is to be gold and the seal interior is to be blue. On the inside of the invitation, the building design will be at the top, with the interior layout below. The invitations are expected to be ready by the end of this week. Earlier wording changes have been incorporated into the final draft. A Mashpee High School promotion is on the back cover of the invitation. The envelope for the invitation will have the Town Seal on the upper left hand corner. HANDOUTS. The Mashpee High School print shop is putting together 400 calendars to be used as handouts at the event. General pictures of Mashpee scenes will be included on the pages of the calendar. The handouts will be available at the entrance to the Center. MAILING LIST. The three major groups to be included on the invitation list are(1) organizations such as the FMSC, Friends of the COA, Triad, the Senior Center Building Committee, (2) individuals who have contributed$500 or more; (3) political Staterrown dignitaries. Also to be included are the President of the Wampanoag Tribal Counsel, and newspaper editors. The recording secretary for the Senior Center Building Committee will consolidate all mailing lists into one document, and work with the Mashpee Town Administrator secretary to prepare mailing labels. REFRESHMENTS. Bud Abbott plans to personally present the invitation to the Roche Brothers, and at the same time request that they donate the refreshments for the Grand Opening. If this fails;the Server subcommittee will need to plan the menu for the event. We will need to be prepared for 400 persons, as the event will run from 1 PM to 4 PM. SECURITY. This will be an issue, with as many as 400 persons coming through the building during the event. The Men's Club is providing volunteers to serve not only as tour guides, but also as security monitors for the event. The kitchen will be visible but will not be available for tours. GREAT ROOM SETUP. Irving Goldberg suggested that tables and chairs be set up facing the kitchen on the right as you enter the room, with rows of chairs set up on the left side of the room for the presentation program. Jim Long suggested setting up easels in the Crafts Room for display purposes. 1
