TOWN OF MASHPEE SENIOR CENTER BUILDING COMMITTEE Minutes of the Meeting of January 10, 2005 Committee Attendees: Other Attendees: Irving Goldberg Jim Long, Director, COA Harold Klegman Ernest Virgilio, Clerk of the Works Betty Nichols Art Weinstein Jean Noussee Ed Adams Chairman Irving Goldberg called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM. REVIEW OF MINUTES The Committee unanimously approved minutes from the meeting of December 22, 2004 BILLS One bill from JCA was received, for$240. This will be the final bill from the architect. The committee reviewed the bill, approved payment and signed off on it. REPORTS Clerk of the Works. 1. Ernest Virgilio reported that the contractor's floor crew had not completed the necessary work on the floors as of noon today, 1/10/05. Until the work on the floors is completed, the contractor's foreman will have to remain on the site. Floors need to be redone because the work was done poorly the first time. The flooring work is a six-hour process. If the floors are not done by the end of today, the furniture being delivered tomorrow by W.B. Mason will have to be stored in the Great Room, which is carpeted, and/or the kitchen and two storage rooms, which have linoleum floors. Ernest will do a walk-through with W.B. Mason before the furniture is brought into the Center, and a walk-through when they are finished, to ensure that there are no marks or scratches on the walls and/or doors. 2. Mr. Virgilio reported on the status of the punch list. Forty percent of the items on the list are still incomplete. There is a leak in the corner of Lynne Waterman's office. There is a crackling noise in one of the lights, indicating an improper connection. The defuser is burnt out in Jim Long's office. Jim Long reported that the ballard lights are not working. The plumbing and the electrical work have been signed off,but the Fire Department has not, however, given final approval 3. There still is no completed agreement in writing with the Fire and Police Departments and Mashpee Commons. Mr. Virgilio is meeting with them at 3 PM to day to discuss the issue. No scheduling of the work can be set up until the agreement is in writing. Lawrence Lynch requires one day's advance notice to do the septic hookup, which is now a three-day job to complete. Police and Fire septic systems need to be pumped out before the new hookup can take place. 4. Ernest Virgilio is meeting with Cablevision on 1/11/05 for TV hookups. This will be a 2'/day process. 5. The Elder Services requires its own telephone line. Mr. Virgilio will meet with them to discuss the matter. 1
