6. Mr. Virgilio stated that the DPW, which is in charge of all Town alarms, will need
home/cell/office phone numbers for Police and Fire Dept. contacts, as well as for at least one
COA contact.
7. Mr. Virgilio stated that he has a schedule of all keys for the new building. Both Mr. Virgilio
and Jim Long will need to sign off on the key schedule.
Site Report. Iry Goldberg reported that the kitchen equipment that was not delivered at the time
the kitchen equipment was installed, would be arriving on 1/12/05 at 9 AM.
On Friday, 1/14/05 at 11 AM, the first of two coffee vendors will be coming to install a coffee
machine for sampling. The cost per cup would be 50 cents. The rental fee for the coffee
machine is $25 per month from one vendor, and$50 per month for a second vendor. One vendor
will waive the rental fee if 100 cups of coffee are dispensed during that month. Discussion
followed regarding the appropriate policy to establish as to charging for use of the coffee
machine. It was felt by the Committee that it is up to the COA Board to decide whether to allow
groups(i.e., Men's Club)to make coffee and pay a set amount. Art Weinstein suggested that we
begin by charging 50 cents per cup, to see how it works out. As we get into the use of the
building, if we find that there are problems with this policy, other arrangements can be
considered.
Irving Goldberg stated that he would not schedule the next Building Committee meeting until it is
determined that all final bills are received. If there is a request for a final payment to the
contractor before the retainer payment of$120,000, Mr. Goldberg will schedule a Building
Committee meeting. The retainer will not be paid until the punch list is complete and ail problems
are solved.
Landscaping. Iry Goldberg reported that the ground contractor has committed to put down the
loam necessary to bring everything up to grade by May 1. If by May 1 it is not completed, the
Committee will assume responsibility for the job. We are withholding$8,000 until completion of
the job by the ground contractor.
Ed Adams reported the loss of one Blue Spruce tree as a result of the recent snowstorm. It will
be replaced by another Spruce in the spring. Ed also reported that Triad has donated a Sweet
Gum tree in memory of one of their members, Norm Glenna. This tree will grow to about 15 feet
in height. Ellis Allen and Dick and Jane Capelotti have gone to Florida until the spring, at which
time the landscape committee can complete plantings around the grounds of the new Center.
A meditation area is planned for the back of the patio, with benches forming a semi circle. The
shed, which has been purchased to cover the well, is available for installation as soon as the
ground freezes. Ernest Virgilio will handle the installation of the shed.
Furniture. Uim Long reported that W.B. Mason was on schedule to deliver the bulk of the
furniture on 1/11/05. Some members of the Men's Club have volunteered to assist with any
necessary adjustments to the placement of the furniture, after delivery. The moving company is
scheduled to come on 1/13/to pack and 1114 to move the old Senior Center into the new building.
This schedule may change, depending upon the completion date of the floors at the new Center.
The furniture sub-committee has received quotes from three vendors for 2" blinds. Blinds quoted
are 2" Everwood by Hunter-Douglas for exterior windows, and 1" blinds for interior windows. The
furniture subcommittee has recommended purchase through Upstairs-Downstairs at a cost of
$5,592.50, with installation by Peter Welch at a cost of$750.00.
Terry Herman and Jim Long looked at coffee tables, end tables, a sideboard, and a round cocktail
table with five-year wood protection system. After shopping at Filenes and a number of other
Cape furniture stores, the subcommittee recommended purchase of these items from Filene's at
I
