TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> SENIOR CENTER BUILDING COMMITTEE <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Tuesday, February 22, 2005 <br /> Committee Attendees: Also Attending: <br /> Irving Goldberg Jim Long, COA Director <br /> Ed Adams <br /> Harold Klegman Absent: <br /> Jean Noussee Art Weinstein <br /> Betty Nichols <br /> Chairman Irving Goldberg called the meeting to order at 10:15 AM. <br /> REVIEW OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes from the meeting held on February 4, 2005 were amended as follows: <br /> Page 2, first line, delete the word aesthetic. <br /> The committee unanimously approved as corrected the 02/04/05 minutes. <br /> BILLS <br /> Chairman Irving Goldberg stated that there were no new bills received that required <br /> committee approval. <br /> FUNDING ISSUE. <br /> Irving Goldberg reminded the committee that the Town of Mashpee had given an additional <br /> $4000 from the budget for extension of the grant manager position to June 2005, until the <br /> landscaping around the new senior center is completed. The grant money is split 75/25, with <br /> 25%going toward the Committee's budget. The question to be answered is how much <br /> money remains in the grant fund, and whether the money left unused from the grant in June <br /> 2005 will be returned to the State. Iry spoke to Sharon Travers-Gay to request that she <br /> determine the amount of money left in the grant fund that is available to the Committee, and <br /> will follow up with her on this issue. <br /> There are other monies in the budget that were not used, including$45,000 for a private <br /> septic system, and$30,000 that is still in the contingency fund. Iry stated that the committee <br /> needs to make a list of the items in the budget that were not used. <br /> REPORTS <br /> Program Status. Irving Goldberg stated that, basically, the building project is completed. <br /> Punch List. There still is a punch list with about 25 issues that need to be resolved. Jim <br /> Long is following up on these. Some of the items on the list include: <br /> • Lights in the parking lot do not go on at night, as programmed <br /> • Floors were never redone correctly. Old wax is building up on the floors, which is <br /> creating a safety hazard. Chair pads do not slide, and are tipping over backwards. <br /> • Pipes were installed above the insulation, and froze during the cold snap, creating a <br /> leak in the ceiling. <br /> • Tiling in the bathrooms. This is still an open item. The committee discussed whether <br /> tiling the bathroom walls would enhance the appearance of the rooms. All seemed to be <br /> 1 <br />
