Joyce Mason distributed copies of a budget report, prepared by the Grant Manager, updating the status of
the contingency fund. The fund is now down to$13,180. The$600,000 grant has been completely paid.
2. Iry Goldberg inquired about what would be done with the unused$45,000 in the budget for the septic
system. Joyce stated that she expected it would be given back to the Town. Joyce is currently paying the
Senior Center bills out of her account.
3. Jim Long reported receipt of a bill from Mr. Noonan, the electrician, for$1,380, which will be handed over to
Joyce Mason for payment.
4. $9,700 is being held back from the contractor, until the landscaping is completed in the spring. The
contractor is also committed to repairing all the disturbed areas around the perimeter of the Center and the
parking lot, to a 4 inch finished grade. The contractor is not responsible for planting grass.
REPORTS
Punch List—Jim Long. Jim reported that many of items on the punch list were cleared up yesterday. The
contractor adjusted a few of the doors and locks. The contractor explained that the water damage in a few
places in the ceiling was due to the high winds accompanying our frequent winter storms. The carpeting man is
due sometime this week to remove the bulges in the carpet that have developed in some places.
John Catlin, Heidi Sokol and Bob Clark from JCA met with Jim Long at the Senior Center last week to review the
punch list together. Some adjustments were made as to assignment of responsibility for the items that remain
on the list. Still to be completed is the correction of the lighting in the arts and crafts room, as well as the
reception desk area. The lighting in both these locations is inadequate. Since this is a design flaw, it becomes
the responsibility of the architect to handle. Also to be handled by JCA is the replacement of disposal cans in
the rest rooms, which are inadequate. The soap dispenser pumps in the rest rooms are not the right size and
need to be replaced. The gutter is bent out of shape and will need to be repaired. As the snow continues to
melt, leaks in the ceiling will appear, and will need to be fixed. The architect will need to be notified to repair the
leaks as soon as they appear.
PROJECTS
Furniture—Jim Long. Jim reported that he is closing in on the list of additional items still needed. Remaining
items include vinyl shelving and additional wastebaskets for the Center. Disks need to be installed on the
bottoms of the chair legs in the multipurpose room, to allow them to slide more smoothly on the floor. Also still
to be purchased is patio furniture and three or four tables for the back of the building, and four benches for
placement in the front entry area. White cast aluminum is planned for the majority of the patio furniture.
Umbrellas for the patio tables are being considered. The drawback to umbrellas is their nuisance factor: putting
1
