toward the ground. This would cost$4000. The lighting fixtures currently installed are very attractive and are
considered to be the Cadillac of lighting fixtures, but give off an excessive amount of light. The committee
agreed to have Mr. Virgilio move forward with replacing the transformer and light bulb in one lighting fixture to
determine whether the 50% reduction of the wattage will solve the problem.
Plaque for the Building Entrance Way. Mr. Virgilio passed around a picture of a plaque that is actually 18" x
24". JCA has an actual-sized 18"x 24" paper plaque that did not arrive in time for today's meeting. It could be
put upon the wail outside, to determine whether it is acceptable to the committee. JCA will require that
everyone whose name appears on the plaque sign off on the spelling, before the plaque is ordered. One person
may be designated to sign off for everyone. The plaque will be completed and ready for installation ten days
after the order is placed. The cost of the plaque will be divided evenly by JCA, Clerk of the Works, and the
contractor. Iry Goldberg will sign off on the design for the plaque.
FUNDRAISING. Irving Goldberg reported that the FMSC has decided to perpetuate itself because of
outstanding pledges that will be coming due in the future. There are also plans for future fundraising activities.
Coming up on June 6th is the golf tournament at Quashnet Valley Country Club. A flea market to be held in the
parking lot of the Senior Center is planned for a Saturday some time in August. Jim Long announced that the
Capers are planning a cruise for 300 to 400 people, and expect to make$4000 to$6000 which they will donate
to the FMSC. At the current time there is a$50,000 surplus of funds. Iry Goldberg stated that the$400,000
fundraising goal set by the FMSC was well within reach, with $330,000 raised to date.
Irving Goldberg reported that the shed purchased to cover the well and pump had been delivered and was in the
back of the building. Mr. Virgilio will install the shed on Friday morning, March 18th.
The next meeting of the Senior Center Building Committee was set for Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at 11 AM at
the Senior Center. As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:00 Noon.
Respectfully submitted,
Ina G. Schoohm
Recording Secretary
3
