r <br /> TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> SENIOR CENTER BUILDING COMMITTEE <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Wednesday, April 13, 2005 <br /> Committee Attendees: Also Attending: <br /> Irving Goldberg Ernest Virgilio, Clerk of the Works <br /> Ed Adams <br /> Jean Noussee <br /> Betty Nichols <br /> Harold Klegman <br /> Chairman Irving Goldberg called the meeting to order at 11:05 AM <br /> REVIEW OF MINUTES <br /> Minutes from the Senior Center Building Committee meeting held on Wednesday, March 16, <br /> 2005, were unanimously approved by the Committee. <br /> FUNDING STATUS <br /> Irving Goldberg reported that there was no change. The current situation is that we still have <br /> $13,180.46 in the contingency fund. There is$45,900 unexpended for the septic system. <br /> REPORTS <br /> Program Status. <br /> 1. Landscaping. Irving Goldberg stated that landscaping is the key item at this point in <br /> time. <br /> 2. Lightning Protection. We have had discussions on lightning protection. <br /> 3. Electric Generator. A new item has been raised by some of the Selectmen, who have <br /> suggested that rather than spend the money on lightning protection,we should consider <br /> installation of an electric generator so that the Senior Center can be used as a shelter. <br /> Iry Goldberg has had discussions with Fire Chief Baker, who is enthusiastic about having <br /> backup power for all municipal buildings. Both the Mashpee Police and Fire Department <br /> buildings have generators installed. Iry Goldberg and Ed Adams will attend the next <br /> Selectmen's meeting on Monday, April 25th, to discuss lightning protection for the Senior <br /> Center. Iry Goldberg will get quotes on installation costs for a generator. South Shore <br /> Generator Service in E.Wareham was suggested as a highly reputable company for <br /> generator installations. <br /> 4. Financial Status. Status Quo. Iry spoke to Joyce Mason briefly regarding closing out <br /> the project. Joyce stated that this is on hold, pending completion of putting down the <br /> loam. <br /> PROJECTS <br /> Landscaping—Ed Adams. Ed reported that he had talked to Ellis Allen this morning. This is a <br /> very busy time of year for Tavares, and the Senior Center is not at the top of their priority list of <br /> projects to complete. Ellis has been talking to potential donors. He met with Gail Barnett, who <br /> had hoped to donate quite a few things which have turned out to be not the best. We do not yet <br /> have a price on the cost of seeding. Timing is the issue. The people who have been lined up to <br /> do seeding and planting for the Center for months, now have us at the bottom of their list. Casey <br /> and Tavares both can do the shrub and tree plantings. We are waiting on the contractor to <br /> determine whether he can complete the loaming by May 1't. <br /> 1 <br />
