r TOWN OF MASHPEE SENIOR CENTER BUILDING COMMITTEE Minutes OF the Meeting of 4/22/02 Committee Attendees: Also Attending: Iry Goldberg Jim Long, COA Ed Adams John Catlin, JCA Jean Noussee Matt Mangus, JCA Art Weinstein Chairman Iry Goldberg called the meeting to order at 12:40 PM. CURRENT JCA PLAN John Catlin briefly reviewed the plans for the new Senior Center as they currently stand. The building orientation is to the southwest, with 90 parking spaces behind the front entry, facing north. There will be overflow parking available by the service entrance area, across from the fire station parking area. JCA is going to try to decrease the length of the building, if possible. This will have the effect of increasing the buffer area between the Center and the abutters. Currently, the buffer area measures 150 feet, from the edge of the Center to the edge of the abutter's lot. An additional 50 feet can be gained, if necessary, by positioning the building that much closer to the fire station. However, this will have the effect of lessening the advantageous view that the current building location affords. ELEVATIONS Iry Goldberg inquired about the status of the elevations. JCA does not yet have the elevations but promised to have it by the end of the week, April 26th. The elevations are needed by the committee in order to prepare the fliers for distribution to the community. APRIL 30TH MEETING Tuesday, April 30th -10:30 AM—at the Senior Center. Committee members will meet with the Men's Club to promote plans for the new Senior Center to the Mashpee community. It was agreed that JCA will give a 15-minute presentation, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session. APRIL 29TH SELECTMENS MEETING Monday, April 2e at 6:30 PM the Selectmen will be reviewing the Senior Center plans to decide on whether or not to approve the project. Discussion followed as to the advisability of having JCA present a video, or other presentation at this meeting. The committee will review the video JCA is recommending, and a decision will be made as to JCA's participation at the meeting. MAY 6TH TOWN MEETING Monday, May eh at 7:00 PM the Town Meeting will vote on whether or not to accept the plans for a new Senior Center. The committee will have a display at this meeting, with a presentation by Iry Goldberg. JCA will be there, available to answer any questions from those attending the meeting. It was agreed by all that it is important to include in promotional material as well as the presentations, the"WHY" of the need for a new Senior Center. The next meeting of the Senior Center Committee is scheduled for Friday, 4/26/02 at 1:00 PM at the Senior Center. The meeting was adjourned at 1:30 PM. Respectfully submitted, k �4� Ina G.
