PERSONNEL BOARD- MEETING OF JANUARY 4 , 1988 • PERSONNEL BOARD The following Personnel Board members were present for tonight ' s meeting : Chairman Robert W. Sullivan , C . Ben Lofchie and Leo Turo . Chairman Sullivan convened the meeting at 6 :04 p .m . Request for Time from Sick Bank The Board reviewed a memo dated January 4 from Elias A. McQuaid , Acting Health Agent , requesting two days sick time from the sick bank of which he is a member . The Board voted unanimously to grant the two days sick time from the sick bank to Elias' McQuaid . Part-Time Clerk - Police Dept . The secretary advised the Board that the candidate recommended for the part-time clerk position at the police department-, Rita Tuomi , refuses to take the pre-employment physical stating that she did not feel it was necessary for a position that would not be providing benefits . The Board , asked the secretary to advise Mrs . Tuomi. that it - is one of the require- ments of the town . Performance Evaluations The Board discussed the approval of step increases for personnel in the Board of Selectmen-' s office and the fact that the Selectmen issued the approval . own Accountant inquired as to whether the approval should have come from he Personnel Board . The Board felt that the approval by the Board of Selectmen for step increases of their office personnel should suffice and that a separate memo of approval duplicates paperwork and is not necessary . They asked the secretary to fol- low up with a memo to .the Town Accountant" Employee_Assistance Mr . O Neillof the Employee Assistance Program requested to meet with the Board . His company has met with several towns on the Cape in an attempt to implement an"a�s1's 's;tance.;1p g,r3m fo em,pl+oy`ees`.Th'.e Board asked that the .w:..•� secretary schedule a meeting. Meeting With Librarian and Librarian Trustees The Board met withDianeKingsley , the Town Librarian , and two members of the Board of Librarian Trustees . ` c7 , i The reason for the meeting was to discuss positions in their department rela tive to upgrading them and increasing hours, and creating new positions as follows : Library Assistant -- it was recommended to change the ,grade of this position from a Grade 5 to a Grade ,8.,'placing'.the employee` on A,..step 1 of Grade 8 . A new job description was prepared and presented to the Board 'for their review .
