LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING August 4, 1998 MASHPEE TOWN HALL - 6:30 PM Present: Absent: Also Present: Pat Riley Don McCuish Gus Frederick Wayne Taylor Maryanne Macdonald Pat Antonellis Scott Chausse Kim Whitney Opening - Pat Riley called the meeting to order at 6:43 PM. A discussion took place regarding having only one meeting during the summer. II Minutes - Kim Whitney made a motion to approve the Minutes of May meeting. Pat Riley seconded. Motion carried. III Communications - Gus passed out the following: (a ) - resignation from Sheila Arnold dated June 19. (b) Letter from Don McCuish regarding serving on LSAC. Gus wrote a letter to the Selectmen, and Don McCuish has been appointed. Gus has a meeting with Don McCuish next week, and he will be sworn in. (c) Letter from Dr. DeMoura regarding Maryanne Macdonald, the new advisory member from the School Committee. (d) Wayne Taylor is the new liaison for Selectmen. Everyone welcomed Wayne Taylor. Gus mentioned that Wayne has been a big help already in a situation at the school. A. Summer Programming - Gus passed out a two-page report on what was occurring during the summer. KKSC is the biggest program we have this summer. In the past it was at the Rec. Bldg. with 22 kids. It has since moved to the Quashnet School and has gone from 22 to 53 kids. Adventure Club is accommodating approximately 15 per session. The 3 - 5 year old program has increased this year with about 13 in each session. Circle of Caring is using 4 classrooms. There about 175 kids in the building each day with all the different programs. An agreement was made that we would hire custodial staff. We hired Nauset, Inc. They train individuals with disabilities. We have three individuals per day for cleaning up areas being used. There was a disagreement with the school about the %z hour before and the '/2 hour after camp was otit. School Committee was happy
