LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING <br />February 29, 2000 <br />MASHPEE TOWN HALL - 6:30 PM <br />Present: Not Present: Also Present: <br />Kevin Terrill Pat Riley Gus Frederick <br />Pat Riley Janice Mills <br />Don McCuish Scott Chausse <br />Wayne Taylor Pat Antonellis <br />I Openin — Pat Riley opened the meeting at 6:44 PM. <br />II Minutes — Wayne Taylor made a motion to approve the minutes of the October <br />meeting. Don McCuish seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />III Communications - Gus explained that he had received a Fax from the Tribal <br />Council in conjunction with the 21" Century Leaming Center. Tribal Council was <br />concerned that they were not involved in the process. Gus met with one member <br />of the Tribal Council. Gus spoke with Morgan Peters and will meet with Grant <br />writing group at the Tribal Council. They are involved now. Everything seems <br />to be coming along better. <br />IV Old Business <br />A. Winter Programs — Gus passed out Profit and Loss Statement for January and <br />February showing the programs. Wayne Taylor had a question about hiring <br />life guards. He suggested sending the kids to do the training and then hiring <br />them. Don McCuish suggested contacting Ira Brown to let school kids know <br />of the dates available for training. Gus said that he would speak with Mike <br />Home and Guidance Department. <br />B. Grants — <br />1. DOE programs offered in grades I" through 6' at all three schools to <br />include remedial classes. Most classes will have between 8 to 12 kids in <br />the class. Programs will include audio visual, digital imaging, homework <br />club, modeling, drama. Also 7' and up Saturday 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. <br />at Boys and Girls Club by Niki Mills. We were losing a lot of money on <br />the Youth Center and we were also to get some money to include that <br />group. <br />2. Economic Development — We did not receive grant. Tribal Council <br />received Grant for job training. <br />3. 21" Century — Due March 20'. We have a number of teachers who are <br />involved. Last meeting had about 20 teachers. <br />
