LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING <br />June 27, 2000 <br />MASHPEE TOWN HALL - 6:30 PM <br />No meeting took place due to lack of quorum. The following items were <br />discussed among Gus Frederick, Scott Chausse and Pat Riley. <br />Need letter of interest to the Selectmen. Trying to get volunteers to fill spots. Chris <br />Chute has interest in being on the Council. Pat Riley and Scott Chausse indicated interest <br />in continuing. <br />Summer Camp is at Quashnet and Pre -School Camp is at the High School because of all <br />the moving going on. We are restricted on space. Staffing is slower this year. We went <br />to Town meeting to have all Kids Klub Before and After -School staff town employees. <br />They will be paid out of Revolving Account and transferred to payroll. Camp is under <br />Department of Health regulations. Ratio is about 7 to 1. <br />Rec Building is getting new shingles, rug, paint, fire alarm system. Need to be inspected. <br />Swim lessons are filled. DOE Grant will end June 30th. There is a new procedure for <br />applying for Grants. <br />Playground at Heritage Park has new multi-purpose playground area from the Long <br />Family. Need pads for handicap. Dedication will be in August. Attaquin looking for <br />people to install playground. <br />Funding for new computer registration program will be through Steve Buss <br />appropriation. $7,000.00. Looking at several different programs. <br />Approximately 115 in 3 -mile super swim and 66 for the 1- mile course. The course was <br />not marked properly. The course needs to be measured each year. Separate group is <br />needed to do registrations and results. <br />Long Range Plan — Article for October Town meeting for money for Sampsons Mills <br />Fields (Soccer and Football). Another is for the funding for the design of new <br />Community Center -Senior Center with pool and ice rink. Senior Center would like their <br />own building. They will visit Harwich Community building to see how that is all set up. <br />July 12 with Barnstable Senior Center and Chatham Senior Center. <br />NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY JULY 25, 2000 <br />
