LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING <br />July 25, 2000 <br />MASHPEE TOWN HALL - 6:30 PM <br />Present: Wayne Taylor, Pat Antonellis, Don McCuish <br />Absent: Donna Lopez, Kevin Terrill, Scott Chausse, Wayne Taylor, Pat Riley <br />Also Present: Gus Frederick <br />Due to lack of Quorum, no items were voted on The following things <br />were discussed: <br />Communications - <br />Trying to get enough people to attend the meetings. Chris Chute is interested. Gus will <br />work with Scott Chausse on planning of super swim next year. There were about 111 <br />swimmers for 3 -mile and about 70 for the one -mile. The course was not measured <br />correctly. We need to hire some people to do some of the planning. This is becoming a <br />bigger event each year. Out-of-town swimmers get to see Mashpee, John's Pond. Would <br />like to put a packet together to send to out-of-town people. <br />Old Business — Camp filled. Summer programs are doing great, especially golf, tennis, <br />basketball and swimming. Cheerleading got canceled. <br />Working with Tiger Long family — playground is almost complete. Waiting to install <br />handicap matting. Community Partnership donated small piece of equipment. <br />Don McCuish asked about basketball courts at Heritage Park. Gus needs to address this <br />at Needs Assessment meeting. Wayne would like to put lights up at high school courts. <br />Trying to get another playground erected at Attaquin. Sheriff's Department will erect <br />this. <br />Computer Registration — Money has been received. Still need to look at another one; <br />should finalize by September. <br />Needs Assessment — Article for October — field on Sampson Mills Rd. — Lacrosse, <br />Soccer, football. Also funding for design of community building. Wayne Taylor said <br />that the Selectmen would like this group established as a Committee. <br />New Business — Charlotte Garron, who will be handling facility requests, will be working <br />Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during the summer and will be going between the high <br />school and the office. <br />
