LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING July 25, 2000 MASHPEE TOWN HALL - 6:30 PM Present: Wayne Taylor, Pat Antonellis, Don McCuish Absent: Donna Lopez, Kevin Terrill, Scott Chausse, Wayne Taylor, Pat Riley Also Present: Gus Frederick Due to lack of Quorum, no items were voted on The following things were discussed: Communications - Trying to get enough people to attend the meetings. Chris Chute is interested. Gus will work with Scott Chausse on planning of super swim next year. There were about 111 swimmers for 3 -mile and about 70 for the one -mile. The course was not measured correctly. We need to hire some people to do some of the planning. This is becoming a bigger event each year. Out-of-town swimmers get to see Mashpee, John's Pond. Would like to put a packet together to send to out-of-town people. Old Business — Camp filled. Summer programs are doing great, especially golf, tennis, basketball and swimming. Cheerleading got canceled. Working with Tiger Long family — playground is almost complete. Waiting to install handicap matting. Community Partnership donated small piece of equipment. Don McCuish asked about basketball courts at Heritage Park. Gus needs to address this at Needs Assessment meeting. Wayne would like to put lights up at high school courts. Trying to get another playground erected at Attaquin. Sheriff's Department will erect this. Computer Registration — Money has been received. Still need to look at another one; should finalize by September. Needs Assessment — Article for October — field on Sampson Mills Rd. — Lacrosse, Soccer, football. Also funding for design of community building. Wayne Taylor said that the Selectmen would like this group established as a Committee. New Business — Charlotte Garron, who will be handling facility requests, will be working Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during the summer and will be going between the high school and the office.
