Mr. Jones suggested staying with the original estimate of $2
million .
**Ms. Ahlgren made a motion to present this information to
the Selectmen with a recommendation that they put in a
percent for a buffer above that cost. Ms . Mills seconded
the motion. **
Discussion:
Ms . Ahlgren does not know what the percentage should be .
Bill Jones thinks it is the Selectmen 's responsibility to get the
land and they should make the call . We will put the building on
it.
Mr . Greelish thinks it should be in the body of the motion that
the Committee questions the validity of the estimate numbers.
Mr. Dinizio stated the Committee will come up with one number for
everything . Mr. Franceschi gave the figure of $27 . 7 million for
project costs , based on the formula. Does the Committee want to
recommend that to the Selectmen?
Ms. Ahlgren does not think we can afford to do less .
Ms. Mills agrees, and noted we don 't have to spend it all .
Tom reminded the Committee that town . counsel said a survey of the
• land is needed for the taking (acquiring) . Will that be covered
in this figure or do we need to come up with a separate figure?
Does each parcel have to be identified?
Mr. Dinizio turned the chairmanship of the meeting to Mr.
Greelish .
** Amended motion . Mr . Dinizio made a motion to present
this information to the Selectmen with the recommendation
the Executive Secretary, Selectmen, Town Planner,
Assessor and Town Counsel determine the amount
it will cost to go through the process of acquiring the
site and then add an appropriate contingency in the event
the taking or negotiations are higher than the assessed
values and for the cost of a survey, if needed. Ms.
Ahlgren seconded the motion. All members were in
favor.**
**Ms. Ahlgren made a motion to present to the Selectmen
$27 . 7 million for project costs . Mr. Jones seconded the
motion .**
Discussion :
Mr. Greelish stated the Marstons Mills school had a difficult
time doing it this way, using the formula.
We know construction costs are about $100 per sq , foot and
• average cost to equip it is $20 per sq foot. It would be prudent
to come up with a figure less then the $27 . 7 million that we can
stand behind based upon more of a calculation .
3
