• detail . Position will report to the Committee everything going
on that past week between Superintendents office, School
Committee, architect, town officials, etc. Will need some
estimating capabilities . Possibly someone who has been employed
by a larger architectural firm as a program manager. Should be
someone versed in dealing with professionals, not just
construction . (A clone of Paul Griffin ! ) Will it be a full time
position? Probably.
Could this person then become a clerk of the works for the
construction phase? Mr. Greelish is not sure the expertise
needed in the beginning phase is suited for a clerk of the works
position. Mr. Polito stated a project manager type person could
do it. ** The Committee decided a clerk of the works is a
separate job. **
Does the program manager position need to be full time?
Paul Griffin is working on criteria for the program manager. The
Committee will delegate that to him.
The Committee asked Dr . DeMoura to begin working with Bob
Writenhour on the RFP for the educational consultant.
RFP FOR ARCHITECT
• Mr . Dinizio received information from the Division of Capital
Planning and Operation with guidelines on architectural fees.
Mr. Greelish suggested reviewing Dodge reports to get a range of
fees. The Committee asked Joe Polito to research this further .
When should the bids for architectural services be due?
How long does the Committee need to review proposals and choose
an architect?
The final site may not have been selected long before town
meeting . There will probably be many things happening before
town meeting that will need the Committee's attention . DRA said
they will bring information about writing the RFP.
** The Committee agreed Town Counsel will have to write the RFP
for Architectural services.** Mr. Dinizio will talk to Mr.
Writenhour about timing of the RFP.
The Committee would like the architect ready to work by Jan . 1 .
They would like the program manager ready to work by Jan . 1 .
(Paul Griffin working on RFP) .
. They would like the educational consultant as soon as possible .
(Dr. DeMoura working on RFP) .
*****
Ms. Ahlgren noted someone should check on the title examiner, to
see if work is complete. The Committee asked Tom Fudala to
follow up with him. The deadline to complete the work is
September 15th .
•
3
